:sarc:Some of the stuff that was vetoed, as I understand it, was money to repair buildings at colleges, not sure if that is considered pork as replacing them may be more expensive to replace than repair. Some of the hospitals and research grants that were cut I would think are not pork. Example, cut funding to those underacheiving folks who refuse to get jobs and kids that should have never been born into this world by those folks who lost their jobs, homes and are living on the streets or with friends and families, healthcare of last resort just adds the burden to us that pay our bill. Those folks are such a burden and maybe should be concentrated in an area so that they would not be such a burden and would be in areas that would be easier to keep an eye on them. As for research, who really cares about a cure for cancer or other types diseases, it would seem to me that is what is called natural selection.:sarc:

Why does the governor hate veterans?

The 'vaccines cause autism' loons will be tickled to see he cut $1.8 for Tdap vaccine. Treating 10 cases of pediatric pertusis will probably trump that figure

It's obvious to the nation that the whole 2010 election, teabag nation etc. is a failed social experiment.

Is he trying to completely do away with not for profit hospitals? He knows the effect this will have on many of these groups -- they will either privatize and sell to corporate hospital chains like the one he used to run (and where he committed Medicare fraud) or they will close completely. Likely he'd say that's a good thing -- let private corporations run them efficiently. However, without competition within markets the private sector becomes the least cost effective entity imaginable.

At least some of the Tea Partiers seem to be disciples who genuinely believe their failed ideology. Rick Scott knows better. He understands healthcare, having helped to drive the prices up himself. Why is he systematically killing healthcare and water resources? What is his motivation?

This is the kind of pork that flows through Tallahasse's budgets every single year. Scott just chose to not write the checks this time around. If they didn't get it this year, they'll ask again next year, and the next, and the next, and the next...

Absolutely right on! Do not expect many here to recognize or accept it, however.

People voted for Scott because he promised to make the tough decisions. He may not be popular for doing that, but down the road when we look back on it all we'll be thanking him for it. (Assuming he finishes the job, the media attention on his decisions has been withering, I worry he'll lose his resolve.. time will tell.)

Don't think so...they voted for him (I guess) because he said he would create 700,000 jobs by the end of his term. So far, all I see is people losing jobs...he still has three years, so we'll see.

But, his vision is pretty short sighted IMO. This is not the way to create jobs; nor is it the way to win reelection...not sure what he's accomplished so far ...
