Whats the predictions?

Mine.

Chest high showing Sunday night. Monday building overhead and hopefully Tuesday still clean with way overhead solid surf. Guess we need to stay tuned. Swell models still not showing anything.

Every time a storm hits between here an NOLA we get big giant victory at sea conditions for about 4-5 days with all the onshore flow here. Maximum beach erosion. We want the storm to hit Texas or turn and hit Clearwater if it's gonna get epic here. Sometimes a decent little ground swell before the storm. IMO!!!!

Storms always wreck the sandbar. Today there was a 3+ foot swell and not a ride to be found! The sand bar is over 6 deep at the shallowest. Screw one day of storm swell, give me the everyday surf I love!

Where were there 3'+ waves today? Looked flat. Anyway, storms change the sandbars, that is only natural it happens EVERYWHERE. Hopefully we get all the surf and no heavy winds. Lateral shifts of sand has been happening forever, when it happens one spot may get worse and another gets better. But I want Sundays forecast. Looks good.

LOCAL FORECAST FOR PANHANDLE

Wednesday 08/27 SURF: 1-2 ft - ankle to knee high and poor+ conditions. POOR
Thursday 08/28 SURF: Flat and poor conditions. POOR
Friday 08/29 SURF: Flat and poor conditions. POOR
Saturday 08/30 SURF: Flat and poor conditions. POOR+
Sunday 08/31 SURF: 6-8 ft. - head high + to 3 ft. overhead occasionally 10 ft. and epic conditions. Solid S swell rapidly fills in through the day, strongest late EPIC

Your right. the sand bar moves, but when the sandbar is deep the smaller waves don't roll. For big wave guys like yourself sunday may be your day, but without the sandbar to absorb energy the beach may take a hit if gustov comes close to the west. Far better swell if it heads for texas. It also can ruin the rest of the season as the water gets littered full of walkovers, decks, and debri hazards that are never removed unless we go clean the break area as we have done before. The beach then becomes a construction zone, and you are viewed as an intruder as dozers and loaders find a new one year career! Anyway, thats why I don't care for big stuff.

Jack,

I agree with what you say to a point. Big surf though does not always mean ruining the sandbars. It can help them sometimes, just depends where the sand shifts. No one including me wants there to be any destruction just to get some big surf. Don't think it will happen but I always wish for a hurricane to just spin stationary a few hundred miles off the coast and give us perfect waves for a while and no bad weather(kind of a pipe dream). It happens sometimes. Lets hope for the best and hopefully we'll get good waves with minimal erosion and such. Looks like Sunday, Monday and possibly Tuesday for good surf. Hopefully it doesn't make landfall here and we can all have fun. Still have to pray for those it may hit. Sometimes I forget the devastation these storms cause and just think of surf. Got to keep myself in check.

Did you guys see the article in the Walton Sun about the people in Rosemary that have to remove their unauthorized Geo tubes? Just remember the million pounds of sheet that will be scattered around if the hurricane hits NOLA. remember the damage here after Katrina?
