Hi everyone, looking forward to moving to the area. We moved from Ohio at the end of June and ended up in the wrong place. We should have stuck with our gut feeling and moved to the place that we dreamed about living and love along 30A. Not where we moved to, which I will not mention, but between there and P'Cola.
We are looking for a place where my daughter will feel welcome and have some really sweet friends to play with. She is 8 years old and in the third grade and has been so sad since we moved. She is the sweetest little girl in the world and it is breaking my heart.
We would like to be in the Van R Butler school district. Can you tell me any neighborhoods along 30A that have long term residents with children for my daughter to play with. Before I move again, I want to make sure we are in the right place.
My husband and I love the outdoors, boating, hiking, we want to try yolo boarding and kite boarding. Love the arts, the beautiful scenery, the area. We own two businesses and are very busy, but like to have fun as well.
We really would like to meet some people and make friends and hopefully families with kids. We miss our friends and want to feel more settled here. It is hard to be happy, when your kids aren't happy. Any suggestions...

...is your daughter sad because she misses her friends in Ohio, or are you currently living in a town with no little girls her age? Why didn't you settle in the 30-A area in the first place? Could it be that you're unhappy and your little girl is sensing that? And what if you move here and she's unhappy here too?
We made the mistake of moving to a neighborhood that has no kids whatsoever. She was used to living in a very family friendly neighborhood with lots of little kids that she played with all of the time. She had so many friends that would come over as well as friends from school.
My husband though that it would be best for our business to be up near P'Cola, but also be close enough to Destin, so we could service the area between Santa Rosa Beach and P'Cola. We knew all along that the reason we moved here was because we loved the beaches and the area and the feel along 30A and just made the wrong decision to move up here. It just does not feel right here.
The schools were rated 10 but we now know that a 10 is not always a 10 for the same reasons. That is why I have been visiting the different schools and trying to make the right decision.
I'm a very positive happy person and my daughter doesn't know that I'm sad for her, I just show here love and try to be her best friend right now. I just want to make the right decisions, before I move her again.

Blue Mountain Beach
I rent a LT condo in the Village of Blue Mtn. It's a community of houses and condos with several year round residents some have children. A new friend of mine moved here from Ohio in June and has 2 girls who go to Van Butler and are around your childs age.
I believe there are more LT rentals available in this community. We have a pool, workout room, 3-4 blocks from the beach, its nice and only about 5-6 years old.
Call Shalanda at Sterling Resorts, they manage LT rentals.

Flamingo Village right next to Butler would seem to have a good number of families there.
If you're open to north of the bay, the Bluewater area has some very good schools and is extremely popular with military families. Plenty of kids and what seems like a lot of sports and activities for them.
