Did anyone see the new Hawaii Five-0 Monday night? Was listening to a local radio station Tuesday morning going to work and they were saying good things about the show. Alex O'Loughlin is playing the role Jack Lord played, O'Loughlin was in Moonlight. Since I don't have anything I watch on Monday nights I was thinking of checking it out this next week.

It's not earth-shakingly awesome, but I thought it was pretty solid for a pilot. Nice scenery, top rate supporting cast (I really liked the guy who plays Danno) and it seems to have potential.
Detroit 1-8-7 looks like it's going to be another keeper for us. It had a little bit of a The Unusuals vibe, which I liked. And the show runners have promised that none of the characters will say soda when they mean pop ever again.

I liked it - better than most of what's on TV, so keeping my fingers crossed they've got a good fluff hit.
Not too impressed w/ O'Loughlin though - long on "pretty" and short on personality so far IMO.

Is Chin Ho still dead?

No, this is supposed to be the "start" of the 5-0 team. He's played by the guy from Lost.

I couldn't really get into it, but that's how I am with new shows. Hawaii Five-0 from the 70's seemed more exciting, but I was a mere tot, so all of that was pretty cool back then.

Definitely not the best thing I've ever seen, but I would make a minimal effort to watch it the next time it comes on - which is more than I can say for most TV shows.

I'll try it again, too. Did you see our favorite Nerds last night? I missed it.

I haven't seen it but it sounds like more of a glamour show than the five-O-I-know. And I don't care what anyone says, Chin Ho died, and bringing him back makes him like Kenny on South Park. I think he should die on every episode. "Oh my god they killed Chin Ho you batturds".
Just in case I haven't diverted from the subject enough already, does anybody remember the FBI show? It always killed me how Inspector Lewis Erskine would jump out into the wide open, gun in hand, while everyone else would take cover behind cars and trees. He looked like dead meat, but he never took a hit of course. There' a guy I know should have died on every episode.

LS - this episode/series is supposed to be the "origins of 5-0". The first show was their first time working together - Chin Ho is alive because they just met and are all young.

Well, I hope he's more careful than Chin Ho version 1.0. He needs to look out for himself. I would suggest he watch some Mannix reruns. I don't think he has access to the original 5-0.

That's the one.

The hype before the show aired gave me he first clue that it needed to be pushed on the viewers. I watched for about 20 minutes and changed the channel ( to what I do not remember). The show is just to busy and noisy for me. Everything is blown up, shot up or beat up in rapid succession and I didn't even get an idea of what the plot was about.
Perhaps I need to be clued in?
