After a year in Seattle, I want to hug every ray of sunshine that's beating me down like a dog.

All last week after I got back I was huffing and puffing like I had asthma, but now I'm bounding about like a bunny on an adrenalin shot.

I'm sweating my tuckus off and loving it. More. MORE!

Tourists...now that I'm delighting in complaining about.

Uh...er...um...If there are any tourists reading this...we love you...don't ever leave.

Spring went by WAY too fast for me. It's my favorite season.

But summer is my second favorite. Just love summer and all of the happy traditions of the season.

I agree with Teresa. Your scooter is awesome!

I HATE Summer.

I hate summer also. Did anybody notice that it just gets too dang HOT in the summer? When you're drenched from head to toe, and you can't punch your way out of a wet paper bag, after a short morning walk, it's too dang HOT!

Kind of interesting that the guy who invented air-conditioning wasn't from, say, the Congo, or Death Valley, or the Arabian Penisula, or The Sahara Desert... he was from Northwest Florida! I guess necessity really is the mother...

well, I lost one of my 5 hermit crabs today. moved them all outside to their hermit crab palace on the porch (built by Ralphie-baby) yesterday and the heat got to the littlest one. rest in peace, Little One. They typically love the warmth after a long winter hibernation indoors, but he was vulnerable for some reason (just molted, or about to molt, etc). With hermit crabs, they typically live as long as they have plenty of water and tons of popcorn. and when something like this happens, its sad for a moment but then its okay. Good kind of pet to have. Fun to observe, very low maintenance and they do not want to have anything to do with you - works out well for everyone. We'll get another.

I always thought you were lucky to get a hermit crab to live beyond the doors at Alvin's Island.

I've found they will live for many years, provided a proper home and plenty of water & fresh popcorn and food scraps. most people forget about them (they are quiet, and they do not play with you or want you anywhere near them) - and so they die from neglect. I ended up with one that our neighbor/boy was tired of (after 2 months) - he lived for about 6 years after that - died of old age - however, they can live twice that long. We like to observe them in the summer time when they are active - climbing, changing shells, eating popcorn - its their crack.

Toots, sorry for your loss. I'm sending Dareth the link to this thread. Jackson has two new hermit crabs. She may need some advice from you.

I am an accidental expert.

Thought I would let the kid have a crab or two when he was only 2 (hermit crabs are really NOT for kids! they do bite and HARD. must be handled carefully), but they just thrived. So we had to figure out the best way to keep them happy and healthy. We give them a very good set up. They have a summer residence, and a warm winter condo.

Little One was buried in the bayou this evening.
