I feel your pain. Sometimes i can hear our neighbor's dogs barking inside their house. I have been known to shout STFU at the top of my lungs toward the offending noise.

What the hell, they can't hear me, but it sure makes me feel better.

I feel bad about complaining to some degree because some dogs are just barkers. But some dogs are barkers because their owners let them do it...and some dogs bark because they are bored and usually fenced in or chained up.
Sunspotbaby....I tried yelling the same thing...it didnt help!😱

Take a take recording of the dogs, and let the owner hear it. Maybe they will realize something needs to be done. There's allegedly something you can use - some sound device, that will stop them. I did a lot of research about this a while back. Was having the same problem.

I too feel your pain as I live on W. Wild Blueberry. This once quiet neighborhood is going to the dogs!! The owners need to be more considerate. I have thought of recording the perps, I mean pups, and confronting the parents, if this continues!

when one starts, even if we can't hear it, they all join in.

Stick a note on their door or in the mailbox. That usually works and tell them if it does not, you will call the Sheriff's department. That usually works better. Just sign the note "One of your neighbors" or "Your entire neighborhood!" Best advice is not to let it continue for too long.

I had a neighbor move in with three that barked incessantly day and night. I really got ticked off when I realized the owners were home during much of this. If talking to them doesn't help, you can call animal control and they will talk to the owners as well. If one talking to doesn't help, they said they will come back and enforce. We wound up moving. The dogs were a factor in our decision.

There are few things more aggravating! where I used to live there was an outdoor dog that woke me up every night (morning) at 4:00...barking at racoons or something  I despised that dog...or rather it's owner. Owner finally moved before I did!

And remember, when considering getting a dog, if you are going go to the trouble to adopt or buy a dog, don't do it if you are never home and plan on leaving it in your yard 24/7.

Don't bother with those devices that are supposed to stop barking dogs, they don't and most make it worse.

I'd go with the note idea, followed by the bigger boys at the Sheriff's Dept.

thanks all....I will opt for the talking to the owner as first recourse then on to other options if it doesn't stop.
Jenny, I can not understand why people have pets then leave them most of their lives trapped in a fenced in back yard where the dogs can't see the world only hear it, or the classic chained/tied up all day....no wonder the dogs are frustrated, they need so much more mental stimulation than most people know. I can only wish for more eduaction and information shared about animals rights to live a better life.
oh well...no one wants to hear me go off on my rant about animal rights...

Dogs bark for a reason. They are either scared (like separation anxiety), protecting something or someone, or barking at squirrels or other animals. That being said, I had the same problem with my neighbors two small yappy dogs. Barked day and night at every sound and they were inside, but I could hear them through her windows, even when they were closed. They also have separation anxiety on top of it all, probably why they were put in a rescue program where she got them.

I spoke to my neighbor several times about it, but she ignored and denied it (which surprised me because we have been cordial neighbors for 17 yrs.

Finally, I reached my breaking point (after 8 months of it) and really had no choice but to call the police department who came and put a copy of the dog noise ordinance on her door. But when they did that, I asked them to put some reading material attached to it about how to handle separation anxiety and also offered to help pay for one one of those devices to stop dog barking. Maybe some people think it is cruel, like she did, but my SIL used it on her lab when she moved and her dog all of a sudden started barking at the neighbors dog. She used it once and it stopped him dead in his tracks; never barked again.

Anyway, it was enough for my neighbor to finally acknowledge the problem and she started working more from home and slowly used the tips to ease the dogs from barking when she left the house. I went over with some treats for them and thanked her for trying. I think that also helps a lot.

Unfortunately, there are some people who just don't give a rat's toot cause they aren't there to listen to it and your only recourse to peace is calling John's number he listed.

I noticed you had 2 threads: barking dogs and disappearing fence.
I was wondering if a bear was in the area :idontno:

T, we live nearby. I know the dog and owner---lives behind us. Have mentioned it before to her & will mention it again. Now any suggestions on how we can deal with our obnoxious, rude, fighting, partying neighbors who keep us up until 2AM? Even the Sheriff's dept. wasn't a deterrant Tuesday nite. Yes, this used to be a nice, quiet neighborhood. I will take the dogs any day to these crude people! If anyone else in the hood is hearing their wild behavior, please, help by reporting them too.

Keep reporting them, it'll add up to an arrest eventually.

Don't bother with those devices that are supposed to stop barking dogs, they don't and most make it worse.

I'd go with the note idea, followed by the bigger boys at the Sheriff's Dept.

A newish neighbor moved in next door last winter whose 2 dogs bark incessantly when they're outside (2 solid hours tonite). I suppose they're barking at all the squirrels (or shadows or just each other). Someone is always with the dogs, so they're not 'neglected' in the classic sense... just undisciplined. She even asked me outright this summer if her dogs were driving us crazy... so SHE KNOWS, but does nothing to make them shut up. I don't know how SHE stands listening to them herself.

I've seen how long & laborious it can be to get visits from the authorities to be effective (watched another neighbor deal w/ their neighbor a few years ago).

Two weeks ago I lost patience and did some research on these anti-bark devices... reviews say they work on some dogs & not others. Ideally they're supposed to be combined w/ behavior-mod training by the owner.

But decided I'm feeling past being neighborly, patient, polite, politically correct, or even sneaky w/ hidden anti-bark devices. I'm thinking a screaming air horn might train BOTH owner and dogs simultaneously.
Y' Like NOISE baby???
Well dig ya summa THIS $hit for 2 solid hours!!! :banging:

Anybody ever tried this approach?

Most of the dogs around us that are outdoor dogs are quiet. The polite thing to do would be to bring them inside.

I like the air horn idea. I can see you now. But hopefully I won't be able to hear you. Haha.
