On Robert Ellis street, off 30A, I found a wallet stuffed with goodies. I'm always looking for treasures out in Nature and in the Gulf, as you may know. I find sun glasses and other human things quite frequently, but this one is a bit different.
What does a true sowaller do when they find a wallet over-stuffed like a Louisiana Shrimp po-boy? They find its rightful owner.
I tried through Chase bank and even though I had his pen # I did not continue to try to find a 'talking person' by using it. I opted for Geico Insurance who put in a call to the wallets owner, though he did not answer (probably on the beach)
I also called a few numbers found in his wallet and one returned my call, saying they would try to contact the owner who is a 'world traveler'. Wow! The places this person has been.
But I'd hate for this individual to get all panicked, close accounts and have their travel here in paradise ruined.
And yes, for those who know me, I'm still not working and yes, the money looks damn green 😀 But boy, my heart sure does feel swell trying to locate the owner.
And years from now the ripple I create will assimilate, perhaps help a child chose love over hate. And with sand and with sun I know I will be one, who makes this paradise, we call 30A, a little better. 😀

Wow, Mike, you're a fabulous citizen. I think you'll get a martini out of these stellar efforts.
Why aren't you writing a book or something?

Bravo!
Way to go Mike! A clear conscience is always the way to go, even though you could have had a lovely money parade and no one would have known except you.
BTW did you try Googling his entire name as listed on Geico card? You may find some of his business information online which may contain his direct phone numbers.

Thanks. Oh wait, I'll thank you again after my Martini. When are you down next?
Yep, it's 2:50 and no phone call yet. I've been out riding my bike and playing, expecting to get a call by now. But who knows, he may have not even have noticed it's gone yet if he's been at the beach.
Anyway, Lynnie, I haven't been writing....uhm, why? Well, I guess I live by 'feel' and just haven't felt like writing a book, being that no real direction has presented itself. I've had ideas, but then the trails found me. I had more ideas, but then the ocean waters found me. I enjoyed making videos, but then my Olympus camera broke. I've been following 'feel'.
If money would flow from my writings, I'd write. I love to create, but working at finding a way to get paid for my writing becomes something other than writing, thus, it is not what I want.
Actually, though, I have been writing. But writing music. I always do. I wrote a marvelous song about my daughter and some about my son. I wrote one about our government and plenty songs lost in the wind, tunes I didn't write down but simply let flow out of me.
Heck, I'm writing now here on sowal. Look at me ;-)
Incidentally, I talked to someone about starting with them this week in a little poo poo job here along 30a just to stop my investments from draining so quickly. I may have to leave 30a and work again in Insurance Adjusting to get my ducks in a row.

I hear whatcha' saying about feeling. I haven't been feeling the love on painting lately, but my mind is trying to get there.....talked about this with my charming 85 yr. old BFF just yesterday. Can't be forced, so keep feeling your way through it.
Cheers and good luck on the job hunt! ;-)

Just an update. I got tired of my lack of progress so I started going around the area and asking poeple if they knew the owner of the wallet. Some conversations went in weird directions. But finally, I found a gorgeous girl walking while on the phone 🙂 who said 'Yes', very excitedly. She directed me to the house where they welcomed the wallet.
The wallet belonged to a friend who had been visiting and as he left, he forgot his wallet on the top of his car. Aside from money, the wallet was filled with receipts to be reimbursed for his travels at work, which was very valuable to him. He told the person here to give me the cash inside the wallet, but that route was not taken.
Interestingly, the guy had a Wikipedia entry. I'd actually have liked to talk with him. He was an hour and a half before realizing his wallet was gone, came back, and then gave up the search. It definately wouldn't have been in the middle of the road by the time he came back, so I'm glad I got to it first.

On a note of seriousness, may I say you are what we all strive to be but often we fall by the wayside. You certainly didn't and are to be congratulated and revered.

Wow, Andy. That's really too kind. But what a nice thing to say.
I've met some really nice people over the past few days. A family offered me to come up to their room tonight to play cards and hang out. Very nice of them. I've been talking to some others who are very interesting and fun to be around. It's been great. I love good people.
Unfortunately, I can be shy, even though when I open up, people say they could never invision me as shy. But meeting good people is one of the greatest gifts in life.
But I am far from what I'd like to be as a person. Well, not real far. But... Even with the wallet. I stick to a pretty strict budget and every spending decision is met with great oversight. So believe me, that money in the wallet looked exceptionally green. I know most wallets that are found, even if the person never touches the credit cards or things like that, they take the cash. It's almost an accepted thing. I guess that's why the guy told his friend, 'If they have money left in the wallet, he can have it'.
But you know, when I was on the beach today, after snorkeling, and having some great conversation with some pretty special people, that money in the wallet was the last thing on my mind. The people's kids, who I gave some neat shells to, they were on my mind. Their parents vacationing here who had some interestig stories, they were on my mind. And two ladies I spent time with today, one from France, they were on my mind.
And not once did I have to think about the guy who I stole money from and how he was feeling 😀

I don't mean disrespect by hijacking, but the funniest was when he (Costanza) picked up the hot chick and they went to a hotel room. She tied him to the bed posts and robbed him. All he had was $8 - :floor::floor: She was livid and stole his clothes!
