Per the article, housing prices in other countries were even more insane/inflated than in the US, but it's still all our fault that people bought into the craze and are SOL now that bills are due? :idontno:

They can land at the PC airport, but they'll be hard-pressed to find a dry square of public beach sand to sit on by that time.

Actually, PC beaches are a federally-authorized and maintained beach restoration project so their beaches are open to all. ;-)

I thought the whole SoWal economy was banking on the influx of 10,000 foreigners flying in and coming here every day....my bad.

That's why they built Pier Park.

SoWal does have miles of public park beaches, including state and county. Much better beaches overall than Bay or Okaloosa. Interconnection with state parks in Walton County an added bonus along with premier housing. If you stay at one of the larger resorts, then you have their beach access. Coastal Dune Lake outfalls offer good access in a number of places. Four-lane access along 98 to Pier Park in nearby Panama City Beach (Bay co.) for shopping to the east or South Walton's Silver Sands to the west and 30A in the middle. Four-lane access to routes out to Georgia and beyond along 98 and 231 and a lot of 79 to coming new airport. The 331 route to Alabama is still free as is the 331 bridge, even if it is two lane. The route into Okaloosa's Destin isn't so good -- must traverse either a toll bridge, or a broken bridge or come through South Walton. So, outlook good for scores to flock to our South Walton beaches. Beach access trouble in some cases results when overloaded beach junkie sets up a tent and the kitchen sink and leaves it on the beach. I don't blame anyone from being upset with this abuse of our beaches.
