I simply cannot believe what we received in the mail yesterday- and I don't know whether to laugh or be horrified (or maybe both!)
Anyway, there was a white paper envelope, from Saint Matthew's Churches in Tulsa, with stuff "written" all over it about how God would be blessing us with all kinds of financial rewards! I was SOOO excited! Finally- I won the lottery! So I ripped the envelope open and found lots of interesting information about how I could collect these riches.
First, I unfolded the paper prayer rug, with a picture of Jesus on one side, and read the instructions about staring at his closed eyes for a long time until they magically "open"!! A miracle! Still following the instructions, I put the piece of paper on the floor, then "touched both my knees to this prayer rug" and prayed for my salvation (money). Next, I refolded the prayer rug, and completed the questionnaire about what I wanted God to do for me. When it asked the question "How much money do you want?", I felt the annual salary of the head of Saint Matthew's Churches would be sufficient, including his stock options and bonuses. I left blank the line where I was supposed to indicate MY DONATION AMOUNT. (Actually I wrote a kinda trashmouth response here).
I placed the used prayer rug (they wanted it back:idontno: -yuk, used paper prayer rug) and my financial statement/scam order form back in their postage paid envelope, and inked over all bar codes, addresses, and numbers that I'm sure were going to be used to contact me about my bad attitude, then popped it in the mail.
Here is my question. Could I have attached my postage paid envelope to a brick and mailed it to them?? (Bdarg's brilliant idea).
We are also trying to figure out how in the world this group obtained our address? Most anything coming through the mail at our house would probably be extremely "suspect" to a group like this, so I can't imagine that they bought a mailing list from anyone that has our address!:floor:
PS- maybe it was 30ARules' prayer in my signature line??:idontno:

Can you explain this to me? I've been researching it but just don't get it. :idontno:I stole a line from Larry the cable guy, which jdarg stole from me to use as her sig - "Lord forgive me, please be with the Pygmies down in New Guinea" 30-A Rules' prayer before PUI
I was just tring to reply witfully to her prayer thingy

I just wonder how many people gave money to this scam. It so sad that they will check the mail everyday to see if God mailed them a check.
I'm sorry now that I mailed the prayer rug back. It was a beaut. It would've made the perfect "pass-around" gift!

Or that guy that wants everyone to "plant a seed". I know there are people out there that don't have a pot to piss in, and they are sending this guy money. It makes me so mad!!!!!!

I also wondered how many fell victim to the scam. That prayer rug would of been a great 're-gift' - I wish I would of kept it - great for next holiday's Pink Elephant gift exchange.

:floor: :floor: It's a crazy place out there and lots of old people that are too trusting. That's pretty easy to spot but it's the online garbage that is quite scary. I got an email supposedly from Chase yesterday and I can spot them real quick. I do bank with chase and normally all you need to do is put your cursor over the link and you will see that it's being directed to a domain other than Chase. Busted! This one however had a domain that looked like it could be chase to the average user. "chaseonlineupdates.com" (don't click)
Better yet they give this warning on the email that Note: Chase will never ask your ATM PIN number. :floor: :floor: They don't need to, they have it as soon as you go to their domain and fill in their form that looks like Chase's logon form with your User ID and PASSWORD! The internet has created such a vehicle to rip off even educated, smart people. :nono1: :nono1:

There's few things sadder in this world than scamming the helpless, or the hopeless. :(
