"I'm coming home."

That's what the voice at the other end of the phone line said, about a quarter past midnight. It was son Alex telling me the professor for his Monday class declared attendance optional and posted notes for those who would not be there.

I asked Alex if the 3 1/2 hour drive home couldn't wait 'til the morning. Why the rush to get home in the middle of the night? "Because I want to be home." Good enough reason, I guess, and the kid and two other crazy friends piled in the car and headed home to Indianapolis.

It made me think of all the times Merman and I have done long hauls to be with family over Thanksgiving and how well worth it, it was. Until five years ago my parents still lived in the home in New Hampshire that I grew up in, and it exerted a powerful pull, even from Indiana. Usually we saved the 22+ hour trip for the Christmas holidays, but one year that wasn't possible and I was dammed if I was going to miss being "home" for at least Thanksgiving. I needed to be home. We (hahha, Merman) drove 44+ hours roundtrip to be with my family--parents and siblings and their families--for not much more than 72 hours. That was nuts! But it was also wonderful and memorable.

So whose home will you be at for Thanksgiving? Yours? A parent's or sibling's? Is anyone coming home to you (I'm thinking of all of our college babies making their way back  ).

Who will be sitting at the table with you for the Thanksgiving feast? (We already know what everyone's eating! ;-) )

Congratulations to your family Franny. I thinks it's wonderful you are going to be in Macon with your family. You are so right about those little miracles putting things into prespective. We'll keep your family in your thoughts and prayers. Happy Thanksgiving and have a safe trip.
You are sooo right gttbm!

My son is coming in from Auburn. My mother has had some major health issues this year but will travel from Columbus for family dinner. Sister in Michigan and brother in Penn won't make it until Christmas as they have been down to stay with Mom more times than I can remember. The good news is she is better!

Franny - hope all goes well with the baby. My nephew was born there in April with Downs' and has overcome many obstacles but has some significant health issues.
I wish only the best for your nephew and family.

Kimmifunn - WAR DAMN EAGLE!!! GO TIGERS!! :clap_1: :clap_1:

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

  I heart you Franny!

I'll be headed to St Pete with my son Brad. Kaiboo was supposed to come, but she lost a dear friend in a car accident this past Saturday and she will attend his funeral Wed. she has opted to not make the 8 hour trip following a funeral....my heart hurts for her.
So sad for Kiaboo. I lost several friends in HS and seemed to want to be with other friends for comfort. Have a safe and funn trip with Brad and your parents in St Pete.

Happy Thanks giving sowal!! And by the way I multi quoted!!
