Is religion hiding in my grocery cart?

After the "Scripture on Scopes" thread I am curious - what other products have hidden or not so hidden religious messages?

Someone mentioned potato chips w/ Bible verses on the bags. What are others?

I sometimes get those Belgian ales that are made in a monastery. Does that count?

Dr Bronner's soap, but they are blatant, not hidden.

all forms of money.

The calender you use is Christian, so your watch, your smart phone, etc have Christian references.

Love those. I drink the French ones, Chimay. Very high alcohol content.

Kosher is easily recognized. Exact dietary restrictions. Does that count?

oh, and though you don't buy it, the state of Florida often uses "In God We Trust" as the state motto, even though it was never adopted as official.

 Belgian/French, same thing. Thanks! I knew it was Trappist Monks. And, they are red, white and blue so I further assumed French.

Try it next time. I will forgo the steamed hotdogs, however.

I'm not a total moron, I know there are religious influences everywhere, but I am asking what companies specifically choose to put a religious message on their products.

I knew about the K - but think that is more of a service to consumers, like bi-lingual printing on packaging.

Hebrew National cracks me up with their commercials - "we answer to a higher authority".

Religious groups make some of the best booze! Go Chimay!

I'm certain a Rabbi would be totally shocked~~~~~~

More symbols than the K. I am most familiar with the U. Interesting!

I didn't know the U one, just the different Ks and stars. Not a big issue in my world as I think almost every meal I eat violates their dietary guidelines.

I do keep kosher for Passover, especially if it coincides with Easter. I only know the U from my NY days. Kinda fun to look at everything you pick up to determine whether or not you can eat it.

To your original question: I have never noticed a Bible verse on groceries.

I like our currency. Sometimes, we would celebrate Greek Easter, too because all the chocolate candy bunnies were half price......Julian Calendar?

Weird - guess I think "God's plan" loses some of its meaning when revealed on a bag of pork rinds.

Agreed, I wonder if it is a sin pushing all that pork fat out the door.

Only in the Old Testament I think (Isiah, Deut, Leviticus).

Is religion hiding in my grocery cart?

You guys bring up the best topics.

People confuse religion with spirituality.

Religion is based on man-made precepts, however well-intentioned.

Spirituality is an actual relationship with the one worshipped.

So to answer the question, Religion can be placed in a grocery cart, spirituality can't.

Or, maybe this could be considered part of God's plan.....for the Gentile, of course.

You never know when someone will change their thinking or due to what.

I disagree. A simple banana may be one's direct connection to God, and the banana isn't symbolic of religion, though the fruits of the Earth may be that connection to God, ie- spirituality. By the way, spirituality doesn't always involve the act of worshipping one.

In order for that to work I think the banana must be smoked.
