I have never been able to understand how something that smells so good in the morning can taste so nasty. Too all java drinkers, enjoy your day and let me know if there is ever a diet Mountain Dew day🙂

Heard on the news that coffee may cut the risk of depression in women. Let's see -- what would I rather be, depressed or bouncing off the walls and having heart palpitations and anxiety attacks from too much caffeine? If I drink straight-up caffeine, my students will say, "Hey, Dr. R., you must have had too much caffeine this morning." They notice when I've run out of coffee and haven't taken the time to make a mixture of half-caf and half-decaf.

BTW hubby has never had coffee. He doesn't like the smell of it. Frankly I don't like to smell coffee breath, but I sure enjoy coffee with breakfast. Except at when at the beach at Hibiscus -- we love Hibiscus iced tea for breakfast, even in the winter.

I can't imagine not having a cup of coffee in the morning. I have tried decaf a couple of times, and couldn't cope with the day. I never have coffee except in the morning. My sister has never had coffee in her life. Oh yeah, one more thing, as kids growing up, we had coffee on our grape-nuts. Has anybody else ever did that?

It was, probably, not unlike oatmeal, kinda mushy, with plenty of sugar and milk. (I, by the way, have never, ever accepted oatmeal as anything I would want to eat.)

For me coffee has to be black, no sugar. Darker roasts are best for me. Freshly ground is the way to go, but it doesn't have to be. The good stuff doesn't really taste bitter to me. It's kind of mellow, robust, even a little sweet. Never worry about too much caffeine. I'd have to grind up NoDoz and snort it it before I'd have a problem with that. 20 oz of coffee in the morning is all I need for the day, but I could go more than that. Sometimes add in one or two 16oz sugar free or lo carb Monster energy drinks. Get five or six hours of good sleep per nite during the week. Sleep in on the weekends. Repeat...

LS, I like the dark roasts too. In fact, I'm craving some right now. Probably should wait til morning though, I do find it a little hard to sleep even without coffee in the evening. Dammit.

My Granny in Tyler drank coffee constantly. Obviously she could tolerate caffeine.

I mix Starbucks Expresso Roast with their Decaf Cafe Verona. Both bold.

Somehow coffee after breakfast doesn't appeal to me after breakfast. If I'm going to have a drink after a nice dinner, I'd rather have a downer than an upper. That's the way I roll.

I discovered Melitta Decaf; one of the best coffees I have ever had, seriously. Gave some to a guest and she couldn't believe it was Decaf. It's very rich and smooth.
