3 hours in the ER and a cat scan to prove it - I'm full of s#it. This should come as no surprise to those who know me well - lol!

I can't believe I'm posting this but it was too funny not to share (well it's funny now. I wouldn't have thought so earlier today.) Was having horrible lower abdominal pain for 24 hours - almost went to the ER last night but realized I had some Vicodin and took it instead. Woke up this AM, took a shower and thought I was better but the pain came back. Went back to sleep and got up around noon and decided I better work a half day. By 5PM my boss was telling me to go to the hospital - I even looked like hell because I was getting bloated and you could see it in my face. So off to the ER I went. Pelvic exam showed nothing; blood tests nothing, so off to the cat scan I went. 45 mins later, the PA came in and said, "everything looked normal on your cat scan except for one thing - you have a lot of poop in you." Then the doctor came in and confirmed it - sent me home with a prescription for something that doesn't even need a prescription. It was $3.79 at Walgreens - but I can't wait to see the hospital bill.

So go ahead - I'm ready for the jokes and waiting for the first person to reply, "Hope everything comes out ok!" (Oops - sorry - beat ya to it!)

 Sorry, LBH, stomach pains are no laughing matter. It's probably your system slowing down since you stopped drinking. You know wine is good for the gut. ;-)

NO KIDDING, that's some serious sh*t! Seriously though, you could have had some intestinal blockage or even crimping. Probably a good thing you went to the doctor, but it sounds like you may need to make a trip to "For the Health of It" and let them recommend a good cleansing.
The average person is carrying around about 15 extra pounds of fecal matter that collects in the system if not occassionally flushed out.
I know this from experience. People have been telling me for years I'm full of sh*t.
Go talk to them, they'll fix you right up.
I mean, short of taking a garden hose and....:floor:

Take (better) care,
K

and thanks for sharing....

Wow, I'm glad you're okay. Things can get tricky in the gut.
And I am also glad you posted: "I'm full of sh*t" is too good a line to pass up.;-)

Well, I bet you were a little embarrassed but also glad you found out what was wrong. I've read the same thing that Drunkinartist said. Also, I've always read that our upper/lower bowel system is one of the more important organ functions in our bods. If that goes awry, then all hell breaks loose with the rest of the organs.

Just be sure to drink lots more water, regularly. Nature's laxative. ;-)

How crappy that must have been for you to go through such a tur-doo at the hospital. Sounds like being a party pooper doesn't sit well with you. Go back to the jello shots.

Hope our favorite hottie feels much better soon. ;-)

Maybe laughing hard is what I need to do - because so far the medicine is not helping. Oddly enough, I adhere to a very high fiber diet and drink so much water I should float, yet somehow this happened. I think it might be stress related. I've already consumed over 20 grams of fiber today between breakfast and lunch. Oh well. On a bright note, I got to stay home from work today while I'm um...waiting.

Thanks everybody for helping me laugh at my misfortune - misery definitely loves company!

LBH, I hope you are feeling better soon. My mother swore by Fleet.....they worked. You know how older people always talk about when the last time was they had an ummmm....BM. Well it had to be everyday for my mom and if it wasn't...out came the Fleet....Good luck.

LBH, something similar happened to me about three years ago. I was driving my dad to the eye doctor and I started to get the worst cramps I have ever felt in my entire life. We got home, I took myself to the doctor's office, and the doc told me she couldn't find out what was wrong. She said there was "obviously some sort of infection", and told me to go to the ER immediately. So of course I was terrified. My mom took me to the ER, we sat there until almost 3 in the morning, they did an ultrasound and a bunch of blood tests, and couldn't find anything wrong. The first thing they checked for was the poo problem, but that wasn't it.
Anyway.... they never did figure out what was wrong. But they still charged me a grand for the ER visit and ultrasound. And not only that, I had to fix my car afterward, because as I was leaving my house to go to the Doc's office, I ran into a tree in my driveway.

Hope the meds start working soon.

Oh I forgot that you have been on a high-fiber diet for a long time. Wow, now this is perplexing! What about downing some prune juice? :puke: It really does work. And do not eat any meat. That takes 2 - 3 days to digest!

Lindabobhat, Sounds like you're # 1 in # 2! Sorry, I just had to use that line. I hope you are feeling better. You might be interested in the Web site below, mostly with people with the opposite problem from yours. I simply could not believe this Web site, which I opened for totally unrelated reasons:
