I love those cakes, too. When I was at Tulane (actually Sophie Newcomb), we always bought doberges for friends' birthdays. Most friends preferred the caramel. YUM! I haven't had one in years. Gambino's ships them. I ought to order one for my next birthday!

Tangential, but every time I see your screen name, I think of a bar we used to go to in New Orleans called Larry and Katz. Any connection (because by some of your comments, you appear to have at least a NOLA connection)?

We'd go there and "pre-game" with their 25-cent cocktails before spending a lot more than that per drink in The Quarter. LOL.
