Marley has a tick on her ear and I can't get it off. I've soaked it in rubbing alcohol and everything but it won't budge! What if I pull it out and the head gets left in her skin??? 😱

I have heard that if you smother it with vaseline it will back out because it can't breath!!! I have never tried this, but I have heard that it works. Good Luck!!!!

Two M.D.'s used herbal EVOO in "City of Angels," one of my top five favorite movies.

EVOO
Extra
Virgin
Olive
Oil
Used ad nauseum by Rachel Ray in her cooking program on Food Network, now apparently (and unfortunately :( ) becoming fairly mainstream. No one cooks with plain old olive oil since Rachel hit the scene.

Thanks Mermaid, I'm glad you cleared that up! :clap_1:

I never cooked with plain olive oil before Rachel. It was a taste thing for me, not a status thing.
Bad news. I pulled it off when it started to shrivel but the head stayed in the skin. I can't even pull it out with tweezers. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :puke:

That's what I do - the blown-out match thing. The sizzling sound is sorta gross, yet satisfying like popping a zit. LOL.

I have heard of that match thing as well. I just hope your sweetie is tick free! Those eyes get me everytime!
BR...I am curious. I had never heard it called EVOO until that Rachel Ray show. I take it she did not coin that phrase? She is somewhat annoying, but I can't stop watching her sometimes. I think she is medicated. Those cooking people never show you how long it takes to clean up!!!

If you couldn't get the whole tick out, go to your vet. You don't want to leave any part of the tick in her skin- could cause an infection. And ears are a PIA to work with anyway, so just to be safe (and prevent a hassle!) I would take her in! Do you use Frontline? I normally don't have to here after a few hard freezes, but it sounds like maybe y'all haven't had enough really COLD weather! I hate ticks- they give me the totla heeby jeebies!
At least Marley has big ears (but cute) to work with!

Actually- I was trying! Little girl dog was whining her head off 'cause she has to sleep in a crate, and I had my pillow over my head while MacGregor walked around on top of me worrying about her! I managed to get myself 100% back in the dog business after 7 months of no dogs! I'm having adjustment issues!

I have heard of that match thing as well. I just hope your sweetie is tick free! Those eyes get me everytime! My daughter writes out her recipes for me, and for years she used that abbreviation to save time (seems like she used that in a lot of her recipes after her first trip to Tuscany in 1999). So I never really thought about it being started by Rachel Ray. Yeah, sometimes Rachel is annoyingly cute. And you're right - 30 minutes? I don't think so, for the most part.

We have a lot of ticks here in GA, especially since our neighbors have 4000 acres of wooded land behind us - lots of deer in the back yard. My dog never gets ticks because of Frontline. I usually find one on me at least twice a year from doing yard work. I put on gloves so I won't get Lyme Disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, pull off the tick with my hands, and call the doctor so he can give me an Rx for minocycline to prevent catching a disease from the tick.
It was really embarrassing once when I went to a fancy salon in Buckhead. and they found one in my hair.

If Rachel Ray is annoying (& I agree, but I do like her) what about Paula Deen? I mean, I'm all about listening to Southern accents but hers is just too much. It is sickening thick. Really grates on me. Does anyone else think so??

I have used Frontline Plus on my two fur babies since I have had them. I have never seen a tick or flea on them since. It is great stuff.
