I grew up with the Beatles, the Doors. I evolved into Pink Floyd and King Crimson. It was always rock n roll, from Zeppelin to Van Halen, etc., but I have always had a bunch of Jean Luc Ponty to fall back on, at times, and I don't even think I like jazz...?? Is his music just something completely different? The only other "similar" stuff I have is Bela Fleck...does anybody else have this affliction?

I haven't heard him for 20 years - so talented!

I haven't tried anything new from him in many years, but it's just so ethereal...it will transport you, if you know what I mean.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4h--YEm8Hk&feature=related Coltrane on the down low in the evening, sitting outside, with your thoughts/friends/book/meal is an aesthetic I could not fathom in my Zep years. Ponty is eminently worthy. Fleck is mad good.
