OK - here's the deal. We have a lot and a construction loan to build. Before we can pull permits, we have to have 600 ft. of water main/sewer run down the new road. There's currently no water. We can't do a private well & septic because the Health Dept. will not allow because the property is only 1/3 acre (has to be 1/2 acre +). We weren't told about having to have the water main prior to permitting but whatever- we've dealt with it. The bid to do this from the engineering company was used in our budget to build. AFTER CLOSING, the engineering company comes back & says others had to be involved besides Regional Utilities (fire dept., DEP, health dept., etc) and now the costs have DOUBLED! We don't have this alloted in our budget and are sort of stuck - we only have 30 days to pull permits according to our loan so we can't go to Tallahassee & request any exceptions. After speaking with Regional Utilities, he says the new bid seems high and it basically seems that the engineer doesn't want to deal with the project because we are only building a single family residence & the red tape is the same for developing a subdivision, which would mean more money for him. Does anyone have any information that may be helpful in this matter or know of any engineers who works on this type project? Thanks in advance for your help! :idontno:
