Laundry question

A housekeeping savvy Sowaller had posted a way to use some funny item (baby aspirin?) to remove deodorant and rust stains from white/light colored clothes.

What is the method? :idontno:

Baby aspirin as laundry aid got me curious. Here's the first site that came up when I googled it. Lots of possiblities here. I'm guessing what works will depend on the type of deodorant, the type of fabric, how old the stain is and how many times it's been laundered, plus whether it's been heat-set in the washer or drier.

How to Remove Underarm Sweat Stains from Light Clothing?

I've had great luck with baking soda getting out all kinds of stains including blood, wine, grass. Wet stain with cold water, sprinkle liberally with bakinng soda, add enough water to make a thick paste, ball up the garment and leave it overnight or whatever. If stain is still there next day, try more water and soda. Borax can help boost the baking soda if it doesn't do the job on its own.

I haven't tried Cascade yet but might. I'm sure it's got some evil toxic chemical in there...I keep meaning to stop buynng it and just use borax and baking soda in my dishwasher, but I keep forgetting.

Thanks - I will try a baking soda paste - that can't hurt.

Normally I destroy light colored clothes long before I have to worry about this, but I started wearing one of Scooterbro's chef jackets when cooking and it really helps.

Due to prior incidents I am no longer allowed to use bleach in the laundry.

Can you really use borax and baking soda in a dishwasher?

I use baking soda in the wash and for spot stains - works great. Sprinkle on rugs before vacuuming, too.

yep, I use this and that for spots and stains, depending. oxiclean works well for some things. of course Dawn is great on a lot of things especially grease spots. but there are times when I gotta soak whites in detergent with clorox bleach for laundry plus straight out bleach.

I never really really had to do this before a little boy came along though...

We stopped wearing whites except for Fuzz's and Squirt's undershirts, for which replacing is often a better option than trying to get the stains out. Edit - we do still have some white socks.

However, due to my general sloppiness and my spouse's habit of wiping his hands on his pants (used to drive me crazy but I hardly notice it anymore), Dawn Power Booster is my laundry friend.

Yep. Also can use washing soda.
