McCain/Palin Redux?

I voted for John McCain for President. He is a fine man, very competent, very experienced, very knowledgable, and understands how Washington works. That being said, in my opinion choosing the inexperienced Sarah Palin as a running mate was a huge mistake made by his political advisors in 2008.

Yet yesterday I watched him and Palin on CNN joining together again. OMG!!!!! Did he not fire his previous handlers who cost him the 2008 election? What is he thinking? His cred level just bottomed out for me yesterday. And I am a Republican.

And what was Palin thinking with her Kawasaki eyeglasses, yet wearing a BIKER JACKET? :bang:

i would not vote for him if he were running against the exhumed corpse of idi amin dada. on a side note, i was in a barnes and noble yesterday, and there were a couple hundred folks waiting for mitt romney to do a book signing. 18 dollars is most likely the cheapest access one would ever have to a potential president.

Bob, I hear ya. But McCain joining up with Palin again would have to be the last straw for anyone who liked him at one point. Agreed?

No comment on him being "unprincipled," but he is definitely not being wise.

McCain dropped off my list when he proclaimed "he didn't know anything about the economy" (...or "I don't know nothin' bout preventing no depression.")

That is when I knew that ticket was...well...adrift.

And then McCain suspends his campaign to save the economy. I can't tell you how many of my friends thought that was a brilliant move on his part.

I was a McCain supporter when he faced off against GW in the primary ten years ago. I think his Palin pick marked the beginning of the end of his political career. When I watch him now he seems so tired, angry and out of touch. And yes- WTF was up with that jacket?!

I thought dragging Paris Hilton into it (late summer campaign ads) was the beginning of the end myself. Acting as though celebrity and popularity and flash is a bad thing in and of itself. Then picking a flashy drama queen as a running mate. WTF?? In order to appeal to disgruntled ultra-liberal Hillary supporters???:confused::confused:

Oh, Jesus, I agree.

I have often voted for Mick Jagger as a write-in for years whenever I have thought that both of the selections were clowns.

WRITE-IN FOR MICK JAGGER (OR PUNZY OR ANYONE ELSE WHOM YOU THINK IS A BETTER CHOICE THAN THE CHOICES PROVIDED FOR EVERY ELECTION) IN WHICH THE CHOICES ARE LAME.

He's scared of Haywood and trying to appeal to the worst of his base (ironically, the very strategy that killed his presidential bid).

In this climate, it might just work. We're not the party of NO, we're the party of HELL No. Said with pride?

That is exactly what SP in her biker jacket said. Or as our daughter says:
Helllllz to the Nawwwww!

My favorite new phrase.;-)

He'd probably crawl back into the ground when he sees what the GOP has become.

Definitely.

Obstructionism will likely work in 2010, but for 2012 the GOP is going to need a much better slogan than "Repeal" and "Hell no."

Also, I do not think the tea party will support Romney. Interesting application of the "Rauch Presidential Freshness Test" here:

If we apply the Rauch Presidential Freshness Test, which has held up in all but one election since the start of the 20th century, five likely Republican candidates can be dismissed today.

The freshness test, developed by National Journal writer Jonathan Rauch, posits that ?no one has been elected president who took more than 14 years to climb from his first major elective office to election as either president or vice president.?

See who is "expired" already here:
