Sarcastic remarks can sometimes strongly suggest defamation IMO. Public officials probably should avoid sarcastic remarks about private citizens.

So should private citizens in public meetings!

P.S. I don't believe Mr. Osborne's complaint involves defamation of character. The issue as I understand it, is whether or not the County attempted and/or DID violate his civil rights by keeping him from attending a PUBLIC meeting.

I take a very strong exception to the suit filed by Alan Osborne against a Walton County Commissioner. Let me say this as succinctly and simply as I can. It costs me and every other Walton County taxpayer money! If Mr Osborne has actually been denied entrance to any public meeting, let him so state when and where. The majority of Walton County citizens have supported his actions regarding Driftwood Estates. Unless he can show he was actually denied entrance to an advertised public meeting, he is doing ALL of Walton County a disservice by pursuing this suit. I have been a very strong supporter of Alan Osborne in his quest to help Driftwood Estates. If he can show he was actually prevented from attending an announced public meeting, I shall support him there as well. The facts, as I have been given them, is...he can't and is frivously costing us all money.

So if I am reading this correctly, Mr Osborne is suing over a violation of his civil rights, that being the denial of his entrance to an advertised public meeting or some such thing? He is not suing over the Driftwood Estates affair and all the stuff that goes with it? He has or the Lawyers have agreed to have "open to the public" depositions before the court case? Have the plaintiffs in the case asked for a change of venue?

It is my understanding that the two suit are seperate and distinct. If such is not the case, someone please so state.

It is the actions and inactions of the county that have injured him and his neighbors, and it is those actions and inactions that are the cause of the expensive legal process underway.


Unless the county either has a magic rabbit to pull from its hat or there are some disqualifying procedural or legal technical issues that have nothing to do with the merits of the cases, I expect that the taxpayers of this county are going to get socked with a big bill for damages when this case is over.

In the old days people worked things out. In the rare case there was someone being a repeat ass they were told to sit down and shut up by the community. Now they get their little feelings hurt and hire a leach lawyer to sue each other.

The system is broke. Lives are wasted over petty BS.

Mike Jones, I couldn't agree more! A few in this county have decided that because they can't control the BCC they can indiscriminately sue them, at the expense of the rest of us. When they are properly cited for breaking ordinances the rest of us live by, their answer is sue and cost all taxpayer's money. It is a disgraceful way to do business and hurts all citizens.

A friend who lives at Windswept Estates had water damage after the heavy rains last year caused by drainage pipes that were too small yet were approved by the county inspector. She says that when the POA contacted the county the records had been deleted or lost so nobody knows why the county signed off on the original development plan. It looks like Driftwood Estates isn't the only subdivision that has problems.

You are right. Somehow, alleged civil rights violation was allowed to be incorporated into the original Driftwood Estates lawsuit. Lawyers, it would appear, can do anything though it would seem they are two entirely different issues.

Have you researched who actually used to own that property at Windswept?

Northwest Florida Properties Trust LLC seems to be the original owners and some company named Turner seemed to be the developer. So I guess my question is so what?

The big question is when will she show her face again to do county business, not just to shop at Target. Will she do what the two Bill's want and come Tuesday to vote on Empire tax exemption? Or will it fail again 2 to 2. It has already failed once but they are determined so they are bringing it up again. If it fails this time how many times can they keep bringing it back. We can give away all the tax money businesses owe and continue to spend a fortune on legal fees for Sarah. I think we should start a thread for just all of Sarah's interrogatives, and legal papers that are costing this county a fortune. I think I will post them tomorrow. You will be shocked. Sarah now rescheduled for Depo in April, video and open to the public. Come one come all find out the truth.

Mrs. Harris can and will fight her battles, you on the other hand just turn a blind eye and defend Sarah. I hope yu live long enough to see the end results of this. I hope you read all the postings that are coming from legal documents on Driftwood and Sarah. Please show at her depo. and learn the real truth. If she is so sick what is she doing at Target shopping. Stress will make you sick the truth will set you free.

You are correct. My point was she could produce the "note" from the hospital and end all the "rumor", what's wrong with that? Get on with County business...

Practice what you preach.

George Ralph Miller has been sick for several weeks. Considering that Sara has been sick as well I doubt this visit means any more than old friends trying to help each other. It certainly does not appear seemly to be hammering someone for performing a common act of decency.
I would recommend commenting on the issues instead of attacking personalities.
