Hubby went for a physical at my doc in ATL on Friday. Hubby used to go to Duke for his annual physicals (long story).
My doc asked hubby if he did monthly breast exams. We looked at each other in surprise, and hubby said no. The doc said hubby needs to start doing that because breast cancer is on the rise in men, and it seems to be more virulent in men than women (chance of survival once detected is less likely than for women).
So men, when you're in the shower, soap up your hands and systematically feel your breasts. Hold up your arm, start at the nipple, and feel them in concentric circles until you get to the outside of your breast tissue. Obviously repeat on the other side.
Unless you're like my Daddy. He had 5 nipples. No, he was not a carnival act.

In doing the many air shows that I have done with Delta's Pink Plane, I actually have met three male breast cancer survivors. Peter Chriss, KISS' first drummer, is a survivor as well...

It is not usually thought of as a health problem for men, so by the time they notice something odd, it is a much bigger issue/further along.

Makes sense, though... We've all got 'em, people... Just a little more prominent for some than others (reference the Nicholson picture in the "Bruce Willis" thread for proof...)
As it runs in the family, and many dear ones have been affected, I think it's SO important to be aware. Such an easy thing to do...
