Also known as the Plan B pill (or the abortion pill by opponents of its use)- it is being reported that this drug will be widely available at military installations worldwide. Pro-Life advocates have started to protest.
Does anyone else see a little irony here (protesting the murder of innocents via a pill)???

I know - one of the things that pisses me off about this (we all know it's a long list) is that one of the uses for Plan B is to help rape victims have one less potential long term issue.

I cannot imagine, anyone in good conscience, being against the morning after pill. I do not see it as anything remotely related to abortion. Here is another thought that you might consider.
It is a war zone and your only military intelligence analyst and expert is a woman. Suddenly she turns up pregnant and must be sent back to the states. All at once your whole mission and its very much needed effort is compromised until a new replacement can be sent and trained. It is not as far fetched as it may seem. Women perform many necessary functions in the military and in many cases are vital to a unit's function and success.

This is an interesting but disturbing take by some extremists who are against even ordinary birth control pills. The premise is that sometimes birth control pills prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in a woman's uterus. In the eyes of some, that's abortion and that's murder. I guess some people truly believe that as soon as that squiggly tadpole thingy gets to the yolk, a ghost swoops down from the heavens and takes possession.
Would proposed amendment make birth control illegal in Florida? ? Big Bear Observation Post

Jesus H!
Will someone tell these pucking morons that the "birth control pill" has MANY valid medical uses that do not in any way involve terminating pregnancy!
I know many women who are infertile, whose partners have been snipped, who are celibate, who use other forms of birth control etc. who take the pill - because their #1 reason for taking it is not pregnancy prevention.

For me the bigger issue for is that mother nature terminates these so called "pregnancies" all the time without anyone even knowing it. I don't see the pro-lifers up in arms about this. I don't see them trying to develop technology make sure that each and every fertilized egg becomes implanted. Like George Carlin said, any woman who has had more than one period is a serial killer.

These people are SERIOUSLY advocating that the mere act of taking medicine to thin one's uterine wall is murder and should be illegal!

Pretty extreme. I would like to think such a thing would not pass, but crazy things can happen in this crazy state.

I was one of those women. My dh had a vasectomy years ago yet I was on the BCP for many years for medical reasons. I am so glad you brought up that point. THE PILL IS NOT ALWAYS USED FOR BIRTH CONTROL. Some even use it for severe acne.
And regarding men and abortion. It's been said that those who are not pro-choice should get themselves neutered. ;-)

You have to keep in mind that some religions, Catholicism, consider any kind of birth control to be a sin. So in their eyes it's not about abortion, but contraception.

I don't think it will pass. I only posted it to show how some people view things. That's the disturbing part, but you're right and I might add, Florida is not the "deep thought" state, that's for sure.

Even the Catholic Church makes exceptions - for example if a woman is taking medication that causes monstruism it is okay for her to take the pill.
But speaking of sins - odd how they are never up in arms trying to ban BJs huh? That one certainly ranks higher than the BC pill on the "open to the Holy Spirit" sin scale.

Just on social issues, the elderly population tends to keep the state behind the curve. Economic and tax policy tend to lean libertarian, I consder that to be rather progressive.

Neutering may be a bit extreme - but I'm all for making them get vasectomies....................or forcing them to be pregnant women's slaves and then provide free childcare.
