It is with great happiness that I report a decision I made about two weeks ago...

I will be leaving the University of Georgia School of Law upon completion of this spring semester.

I will be transfering to Emory University and Georgia Tech in Atlanta to pursue a joint degree program--Masters degree in City and Regional Planning and of course finishing out my J.D. with a concentration in land use law and policy at Emory University. I could not have discovered a more appropriate program for crafting my future career plans. I am so nervous about taking on what seems like a gargantuan amount of extra work, but I am determined so I know I will be okay.

I am so sad to leave UGA, and of course I will NOT be assimilating at the Tech campus. UGA always has my heart, and I will be at every UGA home game in the fall and Thanksgiving weekend when we play Tech on Tech turf, I will be dressed in red and black.

Well, just another two weeks of finals and my first year of law school and final year at UGA will come to a close.

Bsmart, I think you *will* assimilate into the GT campus. It's a great atmosphere -- give it a chance. I think you'll love being in Atlanta. Beach Jacket (who is no longer in a relationship) adores being there. We can hardly get her to leave the place.

Geez Bsmarty- when you have news, you really have NEWS! Move to SoWal when you graduate and fix this "land use" fiasco that seems to be a constant around here.

A double degree- hmmm- this may make you more marketable to Kimmifunn....

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. My intentions are to move to Sowal and become a practicing planner and lawyer.

I cannot wait for Atlanta, I am having trouble fiding a nice place though, the market for even small studio condos has gone through the roof :blink:

Tell me about it -- it is very pricey to rent in Midtown. We used to think about buying her one of those run-down little cottages somewhere between GT and Emory. Heck, you can't find one of those for under $300K!

An apartment in a high rise would be cheaper. We found a few deals at Atlantic Station, but we decided against it because we found a place that was walking distance from Tech Square. After paying a premium so that Beach Jacket could walk to class, she always drives. :bang:
