My 40th bday is coming up and I'm taking the wife and some friends to Mexico, Trinidad and Tabago or other Caribbean destination. What's the best bang for the buck?

Also has anyone ever tried a zip-line? I've heard that I've got to do it.

Paige, when are you going? What sort of vacation are you wanting?
Do you mean a zip line? If so, I'm dying to do that!

Yeah, I meant zip-line. I fixed it.

As far as the trip, some of the women involved are not too adventurous. So we need to have some nice places to eat and not have the water issues. Nice beaches.

We are going the first week of June.

I would think you should be able to get a lot of good deals that time of year because it's not high season; bet you can stay somewhere nice for a decent price. I can only speak for the Mexican Riviera and Jamaica; in no hurry to return to the MR again, but I love Negril in Jamaica. If it's all couples going, there are some great places in Negril, feel free to PM me.

We've been to St. John (US Virgin Islands) 3 times now, and we keep going back. It would be hot though in June (90s). Best beaches EVER, if you just want to lay on the beach and occasionally get in the water to snorkel. Restaurants get nicer every time we go. A couple great beachside bars. Not sure how many you have going but I can recommend www.gardenbythesea.com. Great B&B, short walk to town (Cruz Bay). I think they now have a villa for rent with private pool. I have no affiliation, just love it down there. Heaven on earth!

Ditto! St John was by far the best. I prefer cruises, but my next trip down there will be by plane, straight to St. Thomas and St. John. I have no use for Mexico. And wasn't to impressed by Bahamas, but after living here 23 years I'm a little jaded.
If you go to St Martin, go to Divi Little Beach and parasail. Pay the guy an extra $20 to let you all the way out, 800+ feet! I was flying over the mountains, its was breathtaking!
