New coach - Saban at Bama

It apears that Alabama has a new coach. Just read that Nick Saban has left the Dolphins and took the Bama job. He has been saying for 2 weeks that he was staying at Miami. Now he takes the bama job. Go figure. At least Bama has a qualified college coach now.

Skunkape, do those sour grapes taste good?

You guys loved him when he coached LSU. Now that he is at UA, he is the devil.

My God, could you be ANY more transparent?

Suppose for whatever reason, Les Miles bolted for another job and Saban was returning to LSU today under the exact same circumstances in which he came to Alabama. Would be posting stuff like this?

I doubt it.

You, sir/madam, are a grade-A hypocrite.

Nope, as I stated above, I am a Saban fan. Leaving LSU made perfect sense...he won a NC, had stated that he wanted to coach in the NFL...needed a challenge. But my goodness, he BAILED on Miami. He is yours now. He will put a winner on the field so you can be happy about that fact. But it is clear that the guy is a mercenary so don't fall too deeply in love with him-he may break your heart in a few years:lol: I am plenty happy with Les Miles, by the way. And just between you, me and the whole world-I think LSU plays for the national championship next year...all the tough games at home and an out of conference dance with Virginia Tech...can't wait.

And you say Skunky has problems with the English language? Skunky did not say this. I thought it was a fair analysis, but would add that chrisv made an excellent point about the money factor.

JB try not to take this so personally. And this is not sour grapes on my part; Gators fans are happy with our coach (obviously) and want nothing more than the continued strength of the SEC ... especially because EVENTUALLY, there is going to be a playoff system. There has to be!

Oh it's ok. It's pretty pathetic I noticed that. I've been absolutely consumed with this Saban thing all week. But why shouldn't I be...We've been through a lot since 2000. :(

Note: I'm using 2000 because it's when I started school at The University.

Visit some SEC message boards and you will see what I'm talking about. It's laughable.

LSU fans in particular are whining like schoolgirls about this hire.

I would urge you and others to go read the text of his press conference today. Better yet, watch the video.

Then you will have a better handle on how and why this hire happened.

Why bother with the video? The hire occured because Saban learned he couldn't pull the rabbit out of the hat in Miami like he could in college. He bolted to the best college opening available. Done. JB et al have a new coach. Enjoy the Saban era and whatever it holds:roll:

JB - you are a typical delusional Bama fan that thinks the world revolves around Tuscaloosa. Your new coach's plane hasn't even landed yet and you've proclaimed him the king of college football.

Sour grapes, as you keep referring to, comes after a loss. The only loss so far is the little bit of dignity that Bama had remaining, and it just left on the plane with a good man named Shula.

I don't wish Saban or your school ill will, but until proven differently, the home of the Crimson Tide is a coach's graveyard. And after the way Mike Shula and others have been treated you are simply reaping what you sow, IMHO.

I still hope Jim Bob Cooter gets to play at Tennessee. LSU is getting a freshman next year named T-Bob Hebert. He is Bobby Hebert's son (Saints and Falcons QB in the 80s-90s). Anyway, Cajuns add the letter 'T' before the name of the third son with the same name. I guess it is for trois. Kind of like boys that are the IIIrd being called Trey.

 It doesn't?

Good man but bad coach...and smokin' hot.

Don't forget- this works both ways. Fran left without saying goodbye. I still can't say his name without cringing. But Shula had his chance. He was asked to change around his coaching staff and he didn't therefore, he faced the consequences. I think Shula wanted to leave.
