New Orleans Hotel Rec's?

Hubs and I are planning to spend our 10 year anniversary in New Orleans, next May, with friends and family. 2nd line parade in the works and all-ya'll come on down!!

Anyone have any hotel rooms with balcony views that you'd recommend. I don't think the Royal Sonesta is for me because I'm a light sleeper. I prefer a smaller hotel if I can find one. The Hotel Provincial is undergoing renovations that look to be great but the balcony rooms are already taken.

We were just there in Sept because we found great airfare deal and hotel deal; we're heading back in Dec because hubby had 3 days that he had to take off work or lose (but only 3 so too short of a 30A run) and we found incredibly cheap airfare and a great hotel deal so back we go! I love Christmastime in New Orleans so a return trip was a happy thing for me.

As some of you knew I was considering tagging a 30A trip to my Jackson trip Veteran's day weekend by continuing on down the road for the week but that seems unlikely now-not totally ruled out though!!!

Thanks ya'll!

Hotel Le Marais is amazing. Not directly on Bourbon, but just 1/2 block down Conti. You won't be dissatisfied.

Lots of great small Inns. You might not want to be too close to Bourbon Street because of the noise. The Monteleone is bigger and has some rooms with a great view of the quarter and the river.

We like the Royal Sonesta rooms 4168-4173 because they face the inside swimming pool and bar, so you don't get the noise from Bourbon Street. We like the location too. We like Windsor Court, but our friends in NOLA tell us never to walk anywhere from there, so that's not convenient. We like the Ritz-Carlton club level, although it's not as well-located as the Royal Sonesta. We also like the Royal Orleans.

The Provincial brings back lots of great memories. That's where cnestg8r and the Tulane basketball team stayed for weekend team parties and on SAE formal weekends. We had a blast there. Really interesting rooms -- every one is different. After graduation we stayed there along with another former Tulane bball player and his wife every spring break until we had a baby. Nice to hear they are renovating.

Have fun, BeachbumAggie!

We were married at St. Louis Cathedral and reception at the Royal Orleans. We always stay at the Royal Sonesta. Love the rooms that open to the pool with french doors. Never have any problem with noise. There's an amazing condo on vrbo.com that is on the river in the Jax Brewery. It's quite pricey, but if you have 4 couples, not so bad. Would be an amazing place to be on New Year's Eve. We spending our 25th anniversary in the Turks & Caicos Dec. 12th. Then to NOLA for New Year's!!!!! Can't wait!!!!! Enjoy and happy anniversary!!!!!

We had reservations at the Royal Orleans for the 1996 National Championship that UF won. When we arrived at the hotel, they acknowledged that they had overbooked and didn't have anything left but a room with one double bed. Our daughter was with us, so the room was too small for three of us. It just happened that no one had rented the gigantic suite on the second floor at the corner of Royal and St. Louis. They gave it to us for the same price as the double! It was an awesome room for celebrating the win. Balconies on both Royal and St. Louis.

Your wedding sounds so cool. Did you have a second line from the church to the reception? I love it when I see weddings like that in the Quarter.
