Yep. He is tough on the boogeymen threat of internet sexual predators but refuses to shut down pill mill pain clinics in south Florida that happily install and service drug addiction and illegal narcotic black markets daily. What a tool.

Yes he did; pretty much the only thing I have not agreed with him on. And let's not forget, like it or not, he is YOUR president too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't your president speak in favor of it recently?

Correction: McCollum was against drilling before spill as well

Correction: McCollum was against drilling before spill as well

Alex Sink told me long before the spill she would veto any near shore drilling bills. She told me back in January she was opposed to drilling and promised to veto any near shore drilling bills in the future. McCollum only changed his tune after the spill

Thanks for reminding me

So I just searched "Marco Rubio Oil Spill" and.....zip. He has commented on the Arizona immigration law, but nothing about the oil spill.

Apparently not on his radar.

Try "Marco Rubio back wax spill" and see what comes up:wave:

Yes, Obama was in favor of opening up new areas for drilling as part of reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

He also wanted to reduce our oil consumption 35% by 2030, put a windfall tax on oil and gas companies, get us to 10% of our electricity being renewable sources by 2012 and 25% by 2025, increase fuel economy standards, eliminate special tax breaks for oil and gas companies, and get half of the federal vehicle fleet to be hybrid or electric by 2012.

Our massive consumption and waste of oil is what put that rig out there and until we do something about THAT, our beaches will never be safe.

He is/was correct. Do some research on how many rigs are currently active in the gulf, operating 24/7/365. Spills are the exception rather than the rule.

I really believe that he will not lift the ban now. He thought it was safe and I think he is the type of president to say that he changed his mind after this disaster. I have faith that he will do the right thing. And the other things scooterbug mentioned shows he has great insight when it comes to our nation's energy needs - but not at this cost.

Believe whatever you want to believe. It only takes one well leak and Obama was wrong in what he said. Obama's apologist can go on day "spinning" this or his decision to allow drilling off our coast. Now we will see if he reverses his prior decision for a second time......

I don't think his thought process was unreasonable even though I do not agree with it.

He was against drilling because he was aware of fallacies perpetuated by the oil companies (gas prices dropping, foreign dependence declining, etc)

He changed his position as a compromise because the reality is that his political opponents aren't truly ready for courageous energy legislation that moves away from oil (in other words- they are in bed with the oil industry).

Now that we see for fact that a major incident can and did happen he has what he needs to revert to what he truly believes.

The expression drill baby drill was injured with the poor 11 souls on that oil rig and is dying a slow death with our environment on the gulf coast.

This will no longer be a partisan issue.

I'm quite sure BP would rather be drilling in areas far safer than one mile below the ocean. Like, oh I don't know, ANWAR maybe?
