I agree it's silly and not really news. BUT if you're trying to score political points (Obama) or make yourself look better than your competition (Bachmann/Wayne Gacy), get the basic facts straight. They both get egg on their face this time around just like every other politician has in the past.

His daughter will be 13 in 4 days - that is a far cry from rewriting basic US history right after you got a refresher course in it. Did Obama refuse to admit he got her age wrong and have his supporters edit wikipedia to prove him right?

Confusing the Duke with a serial killer was a funny gaffe that made for a humorous news clip - but is not anything that should be an issue long term.

I agree that both need to get a better handle on the facts. But my point is that intelligent people on both sides make mistakes. Those mistakes should be treated the same or ignored the same.

Joe Biden makes a gaffe almost everytime he speaks. He gets a free pass though because of his politics. He makes Dan Quayle look good.
