Official Trip Report......

I know y'all are probably already sick of my trip, but here goes for those interested.

Day 1: (Saturday) Loaded truck and waited for children to arrive. Left at 4:30 am. Stopped in East Texas, bought T-shirt for son, drove through NOLA and Mississippi coast. Heartbreaking. Arrived at beach. Threw down luggage and walked straight to beach with Corona in hand. (Plastic glass). Went to bed early.

Day 2: (sunday) Went to Destin Wal-mart:eek: One of many grocery trips. Picked up mr. dd and went to Dewey Destin for lunch. Delish! End of Boat Week in Destin. Thousands of boats at Crab Island. Beautiful water. Back to the house and to the beach.

Day 3: (monday) Beach day.
Day 4: SoWaller Day. See other threads. Best day. :wub:

Day 5: Back to Dewey Destin for lunch again with mr. dd. hobbling all the way. See warning about Budweisers and Boardwalks. Read entire book that I bought at Sun Dog...."Of Days Gone By" (thanks, bsmart)

Day 6: Beach day. Saw water spout.

Day 7: Took mr. dd to airport. Beach day. Saw jumping dolphins. Ate dinner at the Back Porch in Destin.

Day 8: Drove home. :(

Glad you had a nice trip! Love The Back Porch! I know the food is so-so but you can't beat eating dinner while overlooking the beach & gulf.

We were at the Back Porch for a late lunch on Wednesday after a great morning at the Big kahunas. We like the Big Kahunas in August because there are no lines for the different water rides, so the kids get a lot of ride-time in and are tired enough to leave by around 1:00.

Back Porch has such a fantastic view and food is good.

Welcome back DD, you were really missed around here. I'm glad you had a good time, but then again how can you not have a GOOD time at the beach. The Back Porch is always a must for us too, food is just so-so, but we have done it for so long, it's now a tradition.

Thanks! Missed y'all too! Had to stop in for a few minutes a couple of times, but couldn't really read all the posts I missed. Enjoyed the Back Porch--great view! I must say the food at Dewey Destin was better though. The fried shrimp was GREAT!

I've seen more dramatic ones there, but my daughter had just remarked how we might see one since the clouds were so ominous....and what do ya know.....one appreared! It's interesting to see it sucking up the water, which these photos don't capture....but hey, I'm no Kurt or SJ!

:floor: No, not one single solitary butt or toy! I did however, do my share of policing the area. In one afternoon, hauled beer bottles (not mine), a remnant of a balloon, pieces of some hard plastic sign, cig butts, bottle tops, and the piece d'resistance----a railroad tie! Ok...I had help with that!
