...it is now time for you (and me) to redeem ourselves. This time I want explicit instructions with map in order to drive the Skunky Way to SoWal from Dallas. Remember last time was a bust. You have some time...we are leaving on FRIDAY, APRIL 13th. This is already not looking so good.

No, that must have been River Otter who led you astray

OK, take I-20 out of Big D to Shreveport. In Shreveport, take I-49 south. Exit I-49 at HWY 190 (Opelousas exit) and go toward Baton Rouge. Here is the tricky part...as you are getting near Baton Rouge, you will take HWY 415 (poorly marked, look for a 'to I-10' sign) north to I-10. Be on the lookout for the 415 sign after you pass Camille's Restaurant. You should NOT cross the Mississippi on HWY 190;if you do, U-turn and go find 415. Hwy 415 hits I-10, go on I-10 east until you hit I-12;go on I-12 and bypass New Orleans;you will pick up I-10 again in Slidell, Louisiana. I-10 brings you to SOWAL...pick your favorite entry point into Walton, I like HWY 331, but some say exit 56 to the Mid-Bay Bridge is better. Remember, no speeding through Krotz Springs, LA (but you can stop at Billy's for boudin). Good luck

Miss Kitty, this is the best part of the message. Always stop where the food is recommended (especially when it comes from a trusted source
). Gotothebeachmom sent us to a small hole in the wall in Alabama on our way to Atlanta, and man o man it was the best southern meal we'd had in a long time! If Skunky says eat at Billy's, eat at Billy's.SoWal Expert

If I am not mistaken, this is where I got RO's boudin in October. Not sure if it was Billy's, but it was Krotz Springs because I remember thinking....well, never mind what I was thinking...

Well, that's why Skunky recommends stopping at Billy's to get some boudin--you gotta fortify yourself for the journey.

sleep....we like not driving all the way to sowal when we leave, because it just makes us too tired to do anything when we arrive, so we stop at about the halfway point. then we can get there before dark in sowal, and we don't have to leave at 3 a.m. from indiana....

You know audie, Huntsville is not that much further, just down the road a piece. You should come on to Huntsville and I will come and see you guys. Just a thought. ;-)

Audie, I'm confused. Don't you take 65 to Birmingham? Do you go thru Nashville? Isn't Huntsville easier to get to than Athens? You definitely should have dinner with Darlene.

Do I need to go up there and shuttle the kitties myself?

Actually, these directions make a bit more sense this time. Maybe you could meet us in Kroutch Springs.

yeah we go down 65 - the hampton inn at athens is right off of 65, huntsville is a little piece from the interstate.
