Oli, Red Bar and more in today's SP Times

i remember it was july 1999. my friend and i had driven down with a family that we are close to. one night she and i wanted to go out but had no idea where to go and we knew nothing about the area. so, i said let's just pull over at tom thumb and ask them. (yeah i'm one of those:blush:) we did. i went in, asked and he told me the red bar. we went straight there, loved it, bought our t-shirts in the little building next door and i still wear mine to this day, holes and all. i have a newer one as well, wore it to the grocery store in charlotte one day, passed a cute little girl and she said, "the red bar?" i said, "yes" smiling, she said "i love that place" i said "me too.";-)

Sometimes it feels like we're the only ones making the drive from this area up to SoWal ... so it always makes me happy to see some good pub for 30A in either of my local papers. :clap:

But now I am sad that we won't be coming back until August. :(

THANKS for the post.. it was an interesting read..and being from NOWAL, I don't know all the ins and outs,,, but I am learning.(thanks to SOWAL). THE one place that I have dearly LOVED:wub: for years was The Red Bar... And it is so ironic.. that is where my mother "hung-out" when she was a teenager.. we have taken her several times and it always brings back the memories for her......
