US law does not require labeling to tell you whether the food contains genetically modified ingredients. According to the Chicago Tribune, most other industrialized nationals require labeling of GM ingredients.

Those in the GM-crops industry claim that their products are safe, making it unnecessary to bring in legislation forcing marketers to include details in their labeling.

I for one, would like labeling of GMO products. I can only imagine how troubling this must be for those with life threatening allergies! And now, it is getting harder for organic labeled foods to remain GMO free. Not right but not surprising is it??

It it's harmless, there's no problem with labeling it.

If there are concerns/issues, labeling it lets consumers decide.

Gee, why would the producers have a problem .............

Their next push will be to label GMO products as beneficial, eg - "Genetically modified to boost your immune system."

labeling laws are already ridiculous, IMO. Seriously? "Free Range Chicken Flavor?" Need I say more?

I'm not sure how the farmers at the farmers market will react to requirements to package their corn in plastic and styrofoam in order to label it as GMO or non-GMO. One would be naive to think that the Monsantos of the world won't make it a PITA for all the organic and non-gmo farmers.
