I don't think it is any secret that the quality of a school depends on the students. The problem is that moving all the students is not a viable option. So we need people who can make the students better.

I think you missed his point. That is a teacher's humor/wit. You know .... his way of making his point...Clever if you ask me.

Yes, I understand it was satirical, but the teacher was still making the point that merit pay is a bad idea.

the problem, at it's core, is fractured families and lack of respect for the teacher. children with little to no guidance at home are doomed to mediocrity. the data driven test orgy is the political tug of war with the right promoting private religion based education.

No, it is the right recognizing that certain children will perform better in different environments and there is no reason the government shouldn't support them, within reason, when the government has failed to do its job of providing a quality education.

I'm sorry certain liberals are upset that the supreme court has ruled that school voucher programs including parochial schools are constitutional.

There has not been a case to decide this, but I would imagine a voucher policy that excluded religious schools would be unconstitutional

Sorry as well that is was not the current conservative court that ruled the program constitutional, rather it was the same court that ruled affirmative action constitutional in college admissions. So you can't use that excuse either.

BTW, Fisher V. Texas is about to overturn Bollinger, and race-based affirmative action in college admissions will be a thing of the past.

spartan - are you posting both as ATX and spartan on this thread? It's ok but can get confusing.

.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I didn't realize my phone was logged into ATXcombo because I don't generally post from it.

I think the post was hilarious - but also had some truth to it. Tons of money, buzzwords, techniques, and weird programs are thrown at these schools, but the basics still get ignored.
