Pilates is a much better work out than yoga, but it has a lot of the breathing and relaxation elements that make yoga what it is. I prefer pilates.

Pilates. Just ordered a new DVD to motivate. "Pilates for Inflexible People" or something like that. I'm calling it "Pilates for the Old and Arthritic" :lolabove:

You are cracking me up!!! I have watched MANY exercise shows and said to myself..."what's the big deal, I could do that!" HA!
I did Pilates years ago...got too expensive for me and the people teaching were WAY too serious!! I did like hanging upside down on that Cadillac machine though.

My first Yoga class was an intermediate level, but I found it to be more like advanced. Even though the instructor was telling us to only go as far as we felt comfortable, I pushed it a bit too much, and thought that was the most painful class I had ever taken. For a while, I wrote off Yoga. However, I found a beginning Yoga book from long ago, that was tucked away at my mom's house. I grabbed it, and began practicing at my own pace in my own place, and found it to be a joy. I haven't practiced it much lately, but I am about to begin again. I truely miss it.
I have no knowledge of Pilates.
