Poll: 71% of Americans oppose raising the debt ceiling ? Hot Air
Bipartisanship, it seems, on borrowing more money to fund the excesses of washington. Unfortunately we want our cake and to eat it too, as most refuse to accept cuts or tax increases as a solution.
This seems to highlight a lack of communication on the part of politicians, since people don't seem to understand where a majority of the money goes.

We want it all, we want it now and we want someone else to pay for it.

71% speaks volumes about Americans coming together!! How long has it been since 71% of the populace publicly agreed on ANYTHING???
It also looks like there's more majority cohesion about the cut-what-n-wheres than the author gives topline credence to (i.e. author's comments about tea-party... and less agreement on details...)
As a country, we desperately need to get behind any points of majority agreement as to where to cut. No matter how small those points may be within the big budget picture, they DO provide a foundation for coming together and rebuilding from.
Here's to WE the PEOPLE!!!

Everyone agrees we need to stop spending so much and reduce the deficit.
Noone agrees how.
And all of the lies, spin, and partisan squabbling prevent the unity we need on the issue.
Had such high hopes when the debt commission was in the news and people were discussing REAL numbers, estimates, and solutions - but the attention span was as short as always. :(

Everybody said that was a complete waste of time, and they were right. I'll remember that in the future. Non-binding debt commissions are pure political theatrics.
