Property Taxes

We're getting about a $10 reduction from last year. (Go homestead exemption!)

This may be an old topic for many of you, but I just got my property tax bill...and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a reduction from last year. What a wonderful christmas present. Are others getting this same gift?

I'm scared to open the envelope.

Mine came Fri no change; with a nice letter from the IRS to accompany it! ! ! ! ! !

one of ours went waaaaay up (watersound) some stayed about the same, couple came down. I am not sure if pursuing the watersound lot (house under construction now) would do any good. they have it overpriced imho, if we could sell it for what they appraised it for we would! from what i hear it is not worth pursuing trying to get lowered. any thoughts?

Probably true. The assessed value for 2006 is based on the value from 2005, so yours is probably accurate. Your assessed value for 2007 should decrease if the the sales prices in your area have dropped since 2005.
