South Walton Community Council Each year the sea turtles of Walton County begin an incredible journey over open ocean to lay eggs on the very beach where they were born. How they find Walton County from as far away as the Western Atlantic is one of the many wondrous mysteries of this ancient creature. The South Walton Community Council presents a public forum on local sea turtles at 7 p.m., March 19, at the Coastal Branch Library. A film is being shown, followed by a presentation by Lorna Patrick, U. S. Fish and Wildlife biologist, and Sharon Maxwell of the South Walton Turtle Watch. Insight into the world of these threatened and endangered sea turtles includes what they eat, criteria for nesting, how long they live - they've been around for 145 million years - and what they do when they aren't building nests on Walton's white sand beaches. This program is one of a series of educational and entertaining forums presented to the public free of charge by SWCC. For more information: Ella Caro, (850) 231-6038
