It's 11:26 pm and things look ominous/stormy for SoWal in the next few hours. Good luck!

Yep, lightning's started here and the radar shows some t-storms moving in from NE. Next hour could be fun.

Radar is currently indicating a TVS or TORNADO VORTEX SIGNATURE with that storm over central Walton County just north of the Choctawhatchee Bay. There is no warning on it though, not even a severe thunderstorm warning on it. The radar can sometimes detect rotation many thousands of feet above the ground in the upper layers of the storm if there is a strong updraft and downdraft present, this is probably what is happening here---so look out for some extreme lightning, gusty winds, and maybe some hail!

Silly me, when the storm woke me up at 11:50 at the tiny cottage on the bay I was scared to death. I tried to find information on TV, the radio, and weather.com without luck. Who knew this board was the place to go for weather info, too?

The light show has kicked up again. A big flash lights up the bay about every five seconds. Mercifully, the wind isn't back this time around and I can enjoy it without my ptsd kicking in. I used to love nothing better than watching a storm...glad to know that's not gone forever.

I really wish I could figure out how to take a picture of the lightning over the bay...
