So, first I had to go buy a new washer/dryer...then the fridge went kaput while I was in FL...bought one of those yesterday...now...one of my a/c units is not working and it's like 90 something outside and I am pucking HOT!

Called my trusty A/C guy and they will be here in 10 minutes.

Have I told y'all lately that this is a hailhole?

Did you get a Sub-Zero? Ours has been a constant repair problem. Hopefully you found another brand of cabinet-depth fridge and that I can plagiarize your discovery.

Mom's from Texas, as you know. Several of her friends have told her after visiting Texas in the summer that if they had a choice between hell and Texas, they'd choose hell. Personally, I love Texas. So does daughter. She has a "Don't Mess With Texas" license plate on the front of her car.

Kitty, we live in the Twilight Zone. OUR A/C's out too--upstairs--where I am. It IS pucking hot!! Mr. DD hasn't gotten around to calling the guy..he's still in the cussing stage.

...damm, I have the A/C guy on speed dial! At least the front came through and cooled it off.

No Sub-Zero for me! Hated the one in the last house. Went with a Jenn-Air...mostly because the others had fugly bowed out handles. I wanted straight handles. It should be here next week.

Fan motor problem here. Should get it fixed today. I wondered what we would do with all this tuition $$ we were saving...now I have my damm answer.

A/C fixed. New fridge installed.

Now on to finding a new vaccum. My old vacuum store jsut closed. Any ideas for an upright? Don't mention the Animal Dyson with the rollerball thingie. That thing feels like it is going to fall apart!

Lynnie - I've been reading your Mercury retrograde posts with some interest. I really have no idea what it is, but it sounds like a convenient scapegoat for the string of unfortunate luck that has shadowed me for the last couple of weeks. Seems like this stuff comes in waves, and if so, good riddence to the bad wave left behind in May. Happy June to you all!

Yes Ma'am. Usually happens three times/yr., but we should all (excpet NoFunn) be excited that it's blessing us four times this year.

Also, if you've had any communication problems, blame it on Mercury.....at least this way, we all have something other than politicians to blame.... :funn:

NoFunn is not enjoying it lately, either. Last night I got my ceiling fan to stop humming its communication with me by tightening a loose screw on the light globe. At one a.m. the globe couldn't take the pressure--it cracked and committed suicide on my hardwood floor. Apparently Mercury was telling me that it was time to vacuum.

Crazy in the mountains tonight:

I'm doing a show up the road in a little mountain college town. The theater is a block from the town square.

Tonight as I was leaving, I heard sirens, and saw blue lights going around the square. A few minutes later, a truck (going maybe 35 mph) came down the hill from the square with a campus patrol car behind it. Right behind that was (I'm not making this up!) a local policeman on a bike and 2 local squad cars. The campus car went flying over the speed table with the bike and the other two right behind him.

It's hard to take a police chase seriously when it involves a bicycle cop! (Bystanders reported that the police caught the truck and dragged the perp out onto the street. I hope it wasn't for anything serious, like cutting the tags off his pillows.)

If the replacement doesn't already have it, put a rubber band around the top. The rubber band will cushion the screws against the glass. ;-)

The replacement was too big, so I took one off one of my other fans to get an exact size--it had the rubber band. (You so smart!) I'll make sure the next replacement has one.
