There is no reason for this - this is price gouging pure and simple.

A weekly shot to keep women from going into premature labor used to cost $10-20. Now a pharmaceutical company got a patent on it - and the price is going to now be $1,500! That's about $30K!

JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN!

And those compounding pharmacies who used to make the $10-20 doses AND HELPED THE COMPANY DEVELOP THE DRUG got served with a "cease and desist".

Premature labor drug spikes from $10 to $1,500 - Health - Pregnancy - msnbc.com

It wasn't the herbal shaman, it was the typical treatment prescribed by doctors.

It's funny until you realize this one act just upped health care costs by $30 billion a year.

We could always stop trying to over ride the bodies natural functions. Some people just weren't meant to have kids.

This isn't a Frankenstein drug that lets pregnancies that typically wouldn't occur happen - these women would typically still have a viable pregnancy.

They would just have more issues and deliver a preemie .............with all of the $$ potential health issues that go with it.
