Rove is basically the brains behind Bush (the W). Without Rove there'd be no Bush. He's the "boy genius" mastermind of the administration (but not a boy anymore.) He got him elected, hand picked Bush's agenda (making him reverse some of his previous stands in doing so), guides his policies. He's one of the most powerful people in the world, yet little known to the public who don't follow politics. People generally tend to either love him or fear him.

Thanks for your explanination for someone not so educated on all the politics and what goes on "behind the scenes":clap_1:

It's no wonder he stays out of the limelight--if he's so tightly connected to Bush.

From the Wayne Madsen Report:

http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/rovewaltoncounty.htm

I do not know the credibility of Wayne Madsen but this sounds interesting. Also, I never knew that the St. Joe Company owned land within Rosemary Beach, unless they were speculating.

November 6, 2005 -- Rove soon to be living on "Republican Riviera?" As rumors swirl around Washington that White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove may soon be leaving the White House soon "to spend more time with his family," there is renewed interest in how he obtained a sweetheart land deal on his Rosemary Beach home on the Florida Panhandle. Florida investigators have discovered that the beach tract where Rove's home is located (for which he paid a mere $165,000 for the land in 2002) was owned by the St. Joe Company, Florida's largest private land owner and a firm that George H. W. Bush and the DuPont family have had a significant financial stake. An informed source told WMR that Rove's sweetheart land deal is tied to the Tom DeLay/Jack Abramoff money laundering scandal. "Florida is the center-of-gravity with Abramoff's deals," said the source.

St. Joe also owns half of the real estate development firm Codina Group, founded by Armando Codina, a personal friend of George H. W. Bush and one-time business partner of Governor Jeb Bush. Until 1994, when Jeb Bush first ran for governor, the Codina Group was known as the Codina Bush Group. Since Jeb Bush became governor, he's taken care of his old business friends, selling them state-owned land at cut rate prices. Conveniently, Rove's Panhandle neighbors will include some of Jeb's and Dubya's top fund raisers and friends -- people financially tied in with St. Joe and Codina.

Interesting. Nice research Bsmart. :clap_1:
If this is the case, maybe Sowal can use this to their advantage in light of the proposed off shore drilling? makes me a little sick to think that politicians could have gotten these so called sweetheart deals who can certainly afford to buy real estate at market prices.
There were rumors that a property near me which is gulf front was given to a POW by the govt.? That I can understand, but politicians, sickening if true.

Thanks Mango, but let me say this, I do not accept that article, further research indicates that the Wayne Madsen report is similar to a website I recently stubbled upon claiming everything wrong with our goverment is linked to consipiracy. I am not endorsing that Wayne Madsen jargin, I just found it after a brief search and consider it interesting.

I wouldn't be surprised though Bsmart. May be no way to know for sure. Property was probably bought in a different name.

That was the blogger I referred to above. But I agree it doesn't make much sense. First of all, he did not get the land for cheap -- it was the going rate at the time. Secondly according to the property appraiser it was a direct transaction from the Rosemary Beach Land Company to Rove and his wife in 2002. My guess is that this blogger's "source" had St. Joe confused with Leucadia National Corporation, which apparently was the holding company that owned the original parcel and created the Rosemary Beach Land Company to develop it along with DPZ.

What's funny is that Rove is like a lot of homeowners in SoWal ... apparently, most of his net worth as reported on his annual financial statement is tied up in his Rosemary house!

Still, $165K? in 2002 sounds a bit light.

But the lot is waaaaay in the back. We have friends who paid $180K for a couple of lots almost that far back, a couple of months after Rove. So it can't be that far off. (Once again: NOT a Rove fan. I am happy to blame him for many, many things.)
