Seaside 4th of July

Went to Seaside on the night of the 4th of July for music & fireworks. Fireworks were awesome! Music...not so much. Does anyone else miss the days of old when the bands (like Sticks and Stones) were such that all the kids and all the adults with enough courage were up dancing (and the rest wanted to be)? Or when the symphony and David Seering would be performing patriotic music? I'm sure both bands booked for this years Seaside July 4th performance have a solid fan base in their respective locales- but probably a different demographic than was in attendance at Seaside. The audience response was lukewarm (at best)- most seemed to be enduring the music until the fireworks started. Not even the kids got into it. And this seems to be the pattern of the bookings for Seaside events lately- the Memorial Day band was much the same, as were the bands for the "family friendly" New Year's Eve event. Does anyone else who attended share my opinion- or have I become a fogey?
