POSITION: SERVER ASSISTANT
(FULL and PART-TIME)

Inspired by coastal cuisine around the world, The CITIZEN is a forthcoming seaside tavern located within the town center of Alys Beach, which is situated along Florida’s scenic Highway 30A. Here, local and seasonal ingredients drive the inspiration for both the food and beverage program. Guests will have a choice between an 18-seat bar, a 12-seat raw bar, or the 120-seat dining room. The fresh and vibrant flavors of The CITIZEN will be showcased in a variety of menu items, many of which will be cooked over a wood-fired hearth, offering a nod to coastal, Southern fare.

The Server Assistant is the saving grace of support staff and has an eye for where assistance is needed. While ensuring each guest has water in their glass, he/she will also be there to save the day for the full-handed server in need.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least one year of experience is preferred, but applicants will still be considered without
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, employees, and all guests
• Have working knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor and common drink recipes
• Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Understanding knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
• Ability to model and act in accordance with The Citizen guiding principles

Physical Requirements:

• Constant standing/walking
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling
• Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc.
• Constant computer/POS register usage
• Frequent, continual, intermittent flexing, or rotation of the wrist(s) and spine
• Constant reaching, turning, and performing precision work
• Constant receiving detailed information through oral communication

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• Obtain service area assignment at the beginning of each shift
• Promptly greet guests as they are seated and offer still, sparkling, or ice water
• Remove tableware between courses and provide tableware for the next course
• Clear tables
• Take soiled tableware to dish room and unload, sort, and stack silverware, dishes, glassware, etc. in designated areas in the soiled dish drop off area
• Between seatings, promptly clean tabletops, chairs, and booths; check floor and clean as required
• Reset and arrange tabletop
• Inspect assigned restroom every 30 minutes and clean as needed
• Respond appropriately to guest requests. Communicate guest requests to the server as needed
• Communicate with server and hostess to assure efficient seating, table utilization, and customer service
• Assist server as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak periods
• Thank guests as they are leaving
• Responsible for reporting all cash and credit card gratuities received to comply with the IRS standards of reporting income
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
