I can't answer for Deb but I've found that with larger breed puppies the price tends to get lowered as the puppies get older. This may not be true with small breeds since they don't get as big though. I hope she keeps these babies until they all find loving homes, even if it takes a year! But hopefully it won't take that long.

I hope this is a responsible breeder -- but there are indications that he or she is not. First, in the state of FL, puppies must be 8 weeks of age before they are available for adoption. Even if the puppies are eating on their own and seem "ready" there are doggy socialization reasons for keeping puppies with their mom and siblings for a full 8 weeks. Second, most reputable breeders have a waiting list for their puppies.

What kind of health testing was done on the parents? What kind of shots have the puppies had? Is there a "return to breeder" clause in the contract if at ANY TIME in the future the new owners decide to give up their dog?

I'm all for free speech, but with all of the naive dog lovers out there (who don't know the right questions to ask before buying a puppy) and with all of the irresponsible dog breeders out there (perhaps merely uneducated, perhaps willfully so), I wish that this kind of posts -- pets for sale -- wasn't allowed on sowal.

I will keep them for myself. I have sold 2 of my puppies to good homes and I plan to do the same with these 2 pups, but if I am not satified with the way someone enter acts with them--I will not let them go.

Agreed. Agreed. Agreed. Except I gave Deb the benefit of the doubt and assumed she's only taking reservations. Pete, you must have missed the post a while back from someone looking for a stud dog - IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS! I sure hope that person didn't find one.

I guess I must have missed that one, or else I missed it on purpose to prevent an anuresym. I think every person who want to breed their dog should have to volunteer a week at a high kill (six or seven hundred a month) local county shelter -- Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay county all have a "standard kill rate" of between 75% and 85% of total intake. Have them point out which ones will be euthanized that day for lack of a home. I volunteered at one for six years, fostered and kept as many as I could, and then became overwhelmed. Some were euthanized because they were sick/neglected beyond help, or because they were aggressive, but the vast majority were killed because they had a minor, very curable health problem or they were the "wrong breed" (an undesireable breed regardless of temperament). So, it just BURNS ME UP to see people breeding their dogs just cause one has girl parts and one has boy parts and they want some money.
