Do you know if the hazmat training is the same one that can be taken online? Same as the 2, 4 or 6 hour classes that have been available lately.
Thanks

Thank you for all the responses! The positions are filled, however, Capt. Brad may be able to refer you to other Capt's or put you on a waiting list.

Sounds like the same class. More on safety than any actual training to do anything specific to an oil spill. Specific to the current oil disaster.
Wonderful that you found what you needed.

None of the 4 hr training (252-Marine) will allow you to be involved in the handling of the tar balls or oil spill. The boats will be assigned a 40hr Hazwop trained person/persons to do the actual cleaning/pick up of oil and tar balls.
Initially, only specific boats will carry the Hazwopper personnel. The others will be there for detection and boom observation.

Thanks for clarification.
I had to take the full class as I'm on a sea turtle permit. I pray I don't have to walk miles of beaches in a big yellow hazmat suit.
