Last night, a big snowstorm here in WA State and it is snowing again hard tonight. Sure hope we don't lose power, not an unusual occurrence, because the temp is expected to dip down to 17 degrees...brrrrr! It is snowing hard again now and everything is a winter wonderland. There is a large multi-gabled house directly across the harbor from us that looks for the world like a Kincaid painting, snow-covered roof and gables and lawn, lights blazing merrily inside, curl of woodsmoke coming from the chimney, a large everygreen tree outside illuminated with blue lights and a star and all reflected in the water. Canadian geese and other waterfowl were flying along the surface of the water, honking away, all afternoon long. Yes, snow falling on cedars, in the land where the book of the same name was set. What a magical ending to a week that kicks off the holiday season!

Did you get any pics? Would love to see some pictures of a nice snow which we never get. I love a winter wonderland, but not ice which is what we get. :(

I guess we should all enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. The weathermen around here are all having the big O over the upcoming winter weather headed this way.

Still in Louisiana. The dealership was finally good enough to look at the car yesterday and give me an estimate. They think they can have it completed by next Wednesday. I'm going to have to rent a car and go home tomorrow, I think. I left a load of clothes in the washer. How gross is that going to be?

Donna, you have a way of making even me (dyed-in-the-wool, warm-weather gull) see the beauty of a snowstorm! You definitely should be a writer in your spare (LOL, as if you have any) time.

Your stories make us all smile.

Yes, Donna has a way of making it sound so appealing. I am not buying into it yet. My hard core weather gear is still in the attic, and it will take an act of God for me to go up there and get it. ;-)
Not to mention that my mush dogs have retired.

Donna, sip some steaming cocoa, stay warm and enjoy your winter wonderland.
I always loved snowstorms during the holidays.
It was January 2nd through May 30 that they became a pain in the rear end for me. ;-)

Donna, my daughter Fyl echoes your sentiments exactly. When I told her we might get snow on Thursday, her eyes got as big as saucers and this goofy smile plastered itself on her face.

"Oh mama, snow!! I'll get my wish!"

"Huh? What wish? What do you mean?"

"Oh mama, every girl's wish! You know, like every girl wants to be kissed in the rain, kissed in the snow..." (picture romantic faraway look here)

"You're always kissing someone, Philippa. Don't tell me you've missed a snowstorm or two?"

(picture tragic look here) "Oh mama, I've always missed the snow..."

So, my fellow SoWallers, you know what this mother is going to be doing on Thursday night. She's going to be out on the front porch with an industrial strength flashlight, singing to herself "..get out of the car, Louis, you're comin' with me...it's the local police" (loggins & messina, if memory serves?)

Don't fret Mermy, I read that more people fall in love during a rain storm than any other type of weather. Worked for me. :D

 We are in for some bad weather Thursday night into Friday morning. They are showing a high Thursday of around 66 but the temps are supposed to plunge overnight 35 degrees and we are in for a wintery mix, they are showing icy for here Friday morning, and a low of 30. Oh boy. Temps were supposed to be around 70 today but with the rain it never got above 61. Showing 74 tomorrow, but they are showing rain all day tomorrow so I doubt it will get to that temperature tomorrow. That system is showing direct on toward us. This will be the earliest we have had any of this type of weather if it materializes.

As I may have mentioned, mr dd makes me listen to the Ticket every morning of my life. This morning their theory on the weathermen is that they REALLY don't think we're gonna get any "wintery mix"--they just keep saying that so we'll keep tuning in.....hmmmmmmmmm.
