:clap_1: Hell Yeah! Awesome. I bet he is a beginner. That makes me feel like I have never been rock climbing. :funn:

I remember being freaked out on one of my first climbs. I was on a face in north GA with a bunch of Army guys up there, and just as I reached the top, I hear that military yelling, sounding like approaching death, and as quickly, I see about four guys in camo running down the face of the rock, face first (Australian rappelling). I about lost my breath -- scared the ba-geezers out of me.

Just like watching a Warren Miller film. Makes me feel insignificant   . I think this guy is dead though. Seems like it was a bungee accident or maybe a base jumping accident. But I'm pretty sure he's taking a dirt nap :(

And that's what happened. He died in '98 on a jump down a face (extremely extreme sport) at age 35. I just looked it up after watching the video. He left behind a 12-year-old daughter. After reading that, I do not feel insignificant anymore. Just happy that I don't try to negotiate vertical surfaces.

I'm shocked he lived that long.

Key word - was

I understand the need for people to excel and move beyond the curve. Those are the people that often inspire the rest of us. They push boundries to the limit, then take a few giant leaps past the point. However, at what cost? I have always said that I want to go out with a bang, doing something that I enjoy, but I don't want to do it prematurely. If I had a little girl at home, I may take risk like driving my car down the road, eating raw oysters, canoeing in water with alligators, swimming in a Gulf that has sharks, but you can bet your sweet @ss that I would not be free-climbing Lover's Leap at a sprinter's pace. That seems to be nothing more than selfishness at its finest.
