So when I was looking up nudity laws in WalCo, I found this exemption to the laws against public nudity:

(b) When the conduct of being nude can not legally prohibited by this article (i) because it constitutes a part of a bona fide live communication, demonstration or performance by such person wherein such nudity is expressive conduct incidental to and necessary for the conveyance or communication of a genuine messageor public expression and is not a guise of pretense utilized to exploit nudity for profit or commercial gain (see for instance Board of County Commissioners vs. Dexterhouse, 348 So. 2d 916(Fla. 2nd DCA 1977)) and as such is protected by the United States or Florida Constitution or (ii) because it is otherwise protected by the United States or Florida Constitution.

Can anyone think of an example where this may come in handy?

I am glad you have done the nudity law research for me. It was on my list of "to- dos" today - I was going to apply for a nekkid license but it appears I will have to be in some sort of demonstration or protest first.

The nudity laws don't scare me. The fact that you were looking them up does. BTW, if you look further down in the "nudity law" paragraph, you will see my pic with a slash across it.

Makes me wonder what Board of County Commissioners vs. Dexterhouse, 348 So. 2d 916(Fla. 2nd DCA 1977). was all about. But, I'm too lazy to look it up.

I suggest that SJ go out and try it, and let us all know so we can make arrangements to be there.

I came to work nude today! Wow, thanks SJ... I was really worried about going to lunch but now as long as I pay and do not collect tips I can just be my natural self. You are a hero! :clap_1:

this dude was maybe providing a public service - his genitals were broken out from an std, and he wanted to be an example for the public, esp. teens !

I was able to do a little bit of searching in regards to Board of County Commissioners vs. Dexterhouse, and found the original text of the case. It appears that Hillsborough County, FL (Tampa) enacted an ordinance to protect the "morals" of the citizenry there, from the exposure of "freewilling" nudity on public beaches. Later today when I have some time I will look over the case to post more...it sounds interesting.
