Mr. Pod has the idea he wants to go somewhere warm around the middle of February. He's pushing for Miami (he's been, I haven't), but it's so expensive, and I'm not sure I'm feeling it.
Any input about Miami or points south? Thanks in advance.

Friends of ours are at their condo in Sanibel and they're having a wonderful time there so I can safely recommend it. They still haven't come back to Indianapolis, so there you go. ;-)

The Sanibel Moorings is beautifully landscaped and right on the water; I'm pretty sure there's a website for it.

Otherwise, we loved Miami, provided you stay in South Beach. The water's as beautiful as SoWal water. And I have to say you see a heck of a lot more interesting things than you do on a SoWal beach. I won't go into details. ;-)

Thanks for the suggestions, Mermaid! I did find the Moorings website. So, I guess Mr. Pod is telling the truth--he has said the same thing about the Miami water. No details needed! ;-)
RO, great pics--does that feel like forever ago?:(

We honeymooned in Ft Myers and drove to Captiva every day  . There is some awesome seafood down there. Prawn Broker, Bubble Room, Schnappers (not seafood but the best hot dogs ever)

Peapod,
Not sure if you are still interested. I moved here from Miami and can give you a ton of fantastic suggestions of where to go, shop and eat and stay. I am a HUGE fan of this city, its ethnicity, food and diverse areas to visit.
PM me and I can share as much or as little as you want.
Good luck.

Still haven't made a decision; I have issues with vacationing anywhere in high season, that's just me. I think Mr. Pod wearied of it all by yesterday morning (and a phone call from John R) and said, "Whatever, we can just go there." (There=Sowal.) :floor:

How about a quick cruise (4-5 days) out of Miami or FtL down south? You may be able to get a good deal that includes room & food for the same daily cost as a hotel room in South Beach.

Great idea.....and you find a cruise that has Key West as a Port of Call!:clap_1:

Great advice. Make it a convertible and wear your sunscreen. You'll like this so much more than just hanging around Miami (though you might enjoy a few days in South Beach before or after visiting the Keys.)

this is one of the only reasons (other than vacation) that i am looking forward to summer - getting my car out again...it is so lonely all tucked in under its car cover in the garage :(
