We've never been during any other month, so I have nothing to compare to, but August is beautiful when we visit. And much cheaper than rates in June/July.

August and September are the peak of hurricane season.  That's nothing to stop you vacationing here then, but I'd suggest making sure your rental will be refunded if there's a mandatory evacuation. 

The water is warm through October.  After all, that's why there are hurricanes at that time of year.

Other than Labor Day, the crowds thin down a lot after school starts, beginning mid-August.  You'll not only have less folks to contend with at the beach, but you won't have the long waits if you are eating out.

The weather is hot in July and August, pretty much so still in September.  October is still very nice, easily swimsuit weather, just no more highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.

October is my favorite month!  Gorgeous sunsets, less humidity, the water is still warm, the beaches and restaurants are less crowded and you can still get a sunburn.

Much better to visit in the fall - just make sure your rental is refundable in case of storm (not just a hurricane w/ mandatory evac).

Fewer people, cooler weather (still t shirt and shorts & beach weather but you don't sweat as soon as you walk outside), happier folks all around, better prices! :wave:

It's actually pretty nice right on thru to November, but Thanksgiving is extremely busy.  November 1st the rates hit all time lows.

In the 35 years that we have come to the area we always came in June or July. 
 
Only recently have I had the opportunity to come in October, December, January, Febuary, March and April. 
 
And I can say that October and April are my favorite months. Whichever month you use, I am sure you will have a wonderful time.

we're scrambling to try to get down there the last week of july.. (PM me if you have a reasonable 1 week rental for 2 adults and a baby - preferably very close to the water and a pool would be a plus)

if we can't.. we're looking at Aug/Sept/Oct.. what's the weather like? We do need the water to be warm enough for baby, I think.
